I understand our pre season games are the traditional time for unreasonable assessments of team performance but surely there should be another date before that where we should have some decent new players? After last season's summer transfer window we only signed Lookman who potentially improved our first choice eleven. The rest were squad players at best. So far we haven't even re-signed Lookman - so we're actually winding the clock back two years instead of one. It's quite clear we can't buy until we sell which makes it extra difficult if your carrying dead weight that has no interest in forcing their own move.
