We’re going to be like those guys who leave their Xmas shopping till December 24th when all the good stuff has gone and you are left picking up dross that you think will do but ends up in the recycling bin by Boxing Day. The only problem we have is no one appears to want to touch our recycling bin!

Southampton targeting Gakpo and we are linked with Amine Harit and Matheus Pereira. Hopefully we are a little more ambitious.

Still no firm indication of us signing any replacements. What on earth is the club doing?

We’ve got to use the Fofana money to reinforce the defence.

I hope to see some proper transfer activity at the club before Thursday or I think we’ll go down

Fofana has not signed for anyone else yet. :dunno:

Surely the tactic should be to get as far as possible with signing a replacement (wages/fee agreed) and then just wait until Forana is confirmed.

Waiting until Forana is confirmed and then making bids/agreeing terms would be stupid.

Yeah exactly, I'd be worried if we haven't already made bids and contract offers for centre backs by this point.

If we're selling Fofana and not looking to bring anyone in I'd be amazed and also Rodgers would have every right to question what is happening.

On the flip side, not every deal is done through Fabrizio Romano and alleged Twitter ITK's so we might not hear everything about it.

Right, I don’t think you understand. Of course they have been thinking about it, that’s MY bloody argument. But, the player hasn’t been sold yet and people are moaning we haven’t signed a god damn replacement yet. We are unlikely to sign anyone until after he’s confirmed at Chelsea.

We have a whole department whose literal jobs are to plan for this stuff. We’d of had a list drawn up before we even got a bid.

It’s not unreasonable for us to have been ready to pounce as soon as the Fofana deal was secured. There is nothing we are doing now that we couldn’t do 2 weeks ago when the interest developed rapidly.

I know that sounds incredibly harsh but with a summer of little or no work for the DOF and the recruitment team (large part apparently due to their own doing), we shouldnt have a list of targets - we should have one specific target that we know is attainable and affordable before this window closes.

I understand if other signings appear as the next two days progress but tomorrow for me is critical for the CB signings.

The deal hasn’t been secured last time I checked.

You know exactly what I mean. Our player is sat in a hotel in New York, awaiting a medical. We don’t have a player at the Marriott waiting for the same.

We still have a list that we are working through. It was even said by some respectable sources who are normally quite knowledgeable about us that we accelerated the search on agreeing the fee. If we do not have a cb to fit the bill come 11pm Thursday, it is unacceptable.

No I don’t know what you mean, until he’s passed his medical and signed officially, we can’t buy anyone. We’ll have done plenty of ground work, but until it’s signed and sealed you can’t moan about not already having a bloody replacement signed prior.

This is ridiculous. It is as clear as day that we have no target in mind. We have targets. I’m sure we are speaking to those targets. But not one clear target. Getting things agreed. Ready to be signed. Subject to medicals. When the deals done, ours follows swiftly after. But let’s go down the list - we have been down this road before. Wague, Bennett, Vestegaard. Tomorrow is key. If we don’t have a target - it’s very unlikely we will or it will be a panic buy/loan - probably no better than what we have. That’s worth a moan

What the flying **** are you on about. I’m addressing people moaning about not having already signed a replacement. What you are talking about has absolutely no bearing on anything I’m discussing.

But let’s address it anyway, if you have a list of more than one that’s good practice. If you have a list, there is likely to be one of them that’s your number one target.

Now, our original list might now contain names totally void as they have already moved or are no longer available for a number of reasons. So we are likely to have to create a new list, that might not be fully scouted and vetted and we very well might end up with someone shite. But that I’m afraid is the situation we’ve landed up in because some petulant *unt didn’t want to respect his contract or his club.

Back to the list, negotiations take time. How many weeks did it take Chelsea to get agreement on Fofana. Moan when the widow closes, not before Fofana has even been sold.

I was pointing out to you that we perhaps should be further down the line given the media attention and inevitability of Fofana leaving than it appears we are. Perhaps I’ll be proved wrong tomorrow. The actual signing, announcement can wait for when Fofana is smiling at us in a Chelsea shirt but based on usual media attention around a specific target and articles by good Leicester sources, we are not at the stage where we have identified a target - that, if it is the case, is worth a moan.

I’ll agree with you on that.

Fofana and Castagne 2 summers ago ultimately. The last 2 years have just been a disaster in terms of recruitment.

January 21 we should’ve signed someone to help us get over the line to the CL just like we should’ve in Jan 20, but didn’t.

And last summer was just a disaster on par with the summer windows of 2000 or 2016.

Probably Fofana ironically.  Our transfer business has been shocking since. No more squad fillers. We need first team ready players.

We have no idea where we are with it. Just because we’re linked with 6 players, doesn’t mean we’re not more advanced with one than the rest. It’s too late to just negotiate with one, because if the player says no or the club wants too much we’ll be buggered, we need to be part way down the line with a handful.

Good article by Henry Winter in The Times this morning about how our academies are being forgotten.

I’d have thought given our crisis we might dip into it and get at least a couple into our first squad, which would strengthen it in the key positions we lack. If not now, when exactly?

Academies are being forgotten amid influx of foreign talent – the Premier League’s £2bn spree needs proper scrutiny
