I know what you mean. I ended up thinking how much I miss the close season without all the footy angst and grateful we’re not in Europe so there will be fewer matches to f*** up from winning positions

Do you think his performance on Sunday warranted Danny Murphy waxing lyrical over it? He wasn't bad by any stretch, but it wasn't the kind of performance that should have had pundits gushing with praise.

 

The fact he has played much better and not received the praise due for it on their show is frankly an irritant.

 

The whole thing just smacked of "Oh, we need to talk about one player of each team, we haven't really watched the game so regarding Leicester, let's quickly cobble together some 'highlights' of Maddison's performance."

Exactly. The whole point of highlights + analysis is to provide a summary of the 'story' of the game. Maddison was OK, but I'd wager Tielemans and KDH were more influential and at the heart of our best moments. And the 'story' of the game was a team cruising for 60 mins and then flubbing it with a weird sub, 2 bad defensive moments and never reacting to Brentford's reshape. 

 

They kinda explained the latter, but to make our segment all about Maddison was odd.
