Yeah he's great. That's why he's playing in Saudi Arabia.

Let’s be clear - he’s there because of the money not because of a lack of quality. That might present its own challenges, though…

Let's clear this up for the millionth time. He went to Saudi Arabia because they were offering him silly money, double at least of what any Premier League side were offering him. He comes from a very poor background, so he'll have seen this as an easy opportunity to set his family for life.

It's weird. When he was at West Brom, I was all for us signing him - he looked great there.

Then he fvcked off to Saudi Arabia and you have to question a players' motiviation, in his mid-20s, to choose to do that...

That doesn't make him any good by the way. If he was worth it he wouldn't be in Saudi Arabia. Feels like more dumb business.

Did you ignore the part where multiple Premier League sides, including us, wanted to take him on after West Brom got relegated?

No, I didn't. What I'm saying is that most teams looked at him and didn't fancy him. He's not on insane money in Saudi Arabia. He's on basically what our average weekly wage is.

There's no income tax in SA. So 80k there is near enough double 80k here.

I've no idea what he's on. I must admit that I assumed it to be bucket loads but I have absolutely no reason to doubt you. Got to wonder though, why tf did he go?

Sporting CP alert.......

It's our bogie team....most players who played for them and we bought from them have been bum.

I get that this player won't come directly from CP but it still something to think about 🤔

You'll have to say that a few more times yet. I predict another 10 posts will share the same concerns despite them being addressed in the above and other answers

I guess the flipside is that he probably knew his limitations as a player in terms of challenging for trophies and wanted to be set for life financially in Saudi Arabia.

Maybe he has that now and wants to be back in a competitive league. All guesswork of course.

No. A lot of clubs actually offered him a deal but he decided to make his family financially secure

From the 20/21 prem season at WBA, not too shabby for someone who isn't a glorified wingback like Perez

He was very good for West Brom and is an improvement on Perez. As long as Rudkin doesn’t offer a ridiculous deal we should be all over this.

I'm not begrudging him setting his family up for life by going and playing in Saudi. If as some have said he comes from a really poor background then good luck to him. Moving past that though he's scored 2 goals in 29 games in the Saudi league where the standard of football is shite. A half decent player playing there would tear it up. Asamoah Gyan who was decent but not a world beater went and played in the UAE for four years and scored 123 goals in 123 games which is what you would expect. Obviously an attacking midfielder would be getting less but 2 in 29 why would we even be considering him?
