What was wrong with it out of interest?

You want to know these things at my age...

@Bellend Sebastian @Trav Le Bleu @Izzy and other saddos will await with anticipation too!! (Dont pretend your not!)

The hot water outlet was a ****ing rubber hose. Split and pissed water over the whole unit. By some miracle the electrics seem OK and a new outlet pipe (not rubber this time), pump and valve seems to have got it all in order.

Now it's working, time to flick it straight off.

Oh I spent half the time gassing to the bloke about systems. Self declared sad git.

My missus was adamant our boiler had broke a few weeks before Christmas, so she called an emergency plumber out whilst I was at work

She'd knocked the off switch with the toaster.

How much did that cost?

I don't feel the cold (I think Bellend said same recently) so I'd be quite happy to leave the heating off and wear a jumper indoors.

Ours goes on start of November and is off early March, barring the odd out of season cold snap, and never more than 20°C. Timed to come on half hour before get up and a couple of hours in the evening - might manually adjust if needed.

I love crisp cold days when dry

I'd quite happily put on a coat, grab a hot drink and sit outside with a good book for an hour on a day like today.

Try doing that living on a hill in Yorkshire.

Every tree outside is pretty much sideways.

Bitter.

Ive got a Mrs, a teenage daughter and 12 year old son.

The girls have blankets, electric blankets, electric heaters and STILL want the heating on.

Having had two rubber components fail on my boiler (neither catastrophically, thankfully) I feel your pain.

And yes, Raj is right, I've been looking out for your response

All posties wear shorts all year round. A thing I don't understand.

I need thermal leggings and vest under my jeans and top plus decent weatherproof jacket, scarf, gloves and LCFC hat just to take the dog for an hour's walk. :colder:

I don't.

Not because they'd be cold, but because I find RM uniform shorts really uncomfortable. Very restrictive.

I fear the problem might be more the overhanging eaves.

Seems to be absolutely no gritting in Leicester, even the ring road is covered in snow.

Personally don’t think the taxpayer should be forking out to have sand chucked about every now and again
