Not your finest guest chaps, think it says a lot when even I think I know more about the game than this ex professional. It was the DoF comments that did it for me, being hardworking is not a barometer of success…. Rudkin is pretty much a busy idiot.

Either way add him to the blacklist for guests 🤣

I saw a video clip on the BSLBs Twitter, so I assume the episodes are recorded, but I'd love to see the video of when he said Rudkin is one of the best DOFs in the business, and if anyone was able to keep a straight face lol

As others have said, clearly the guy didn't want to ruffle any feathers and professionally, he wants to maintain a good relationship with Rudkin and the club, so he wasn't ever going to dig him, or anyone else, out. Enjoyed listening to the episode, but the guy was clearly an ostrich...

Good 'episode' :D Always great to have contraversy and some insight into the workings of the club from someone who's been there and done it. I enjoyed the alternate perspective.

Personally didn't take too much from the Rudkin love in, no one is gonna burn themselves over potentional employment, but Guy did come over as abit... hmm dont know the right word that fits and doesnt upset

Maybe will edit this post when the appropriate word springs to mind

'I'm amazed how people can question John Rudkin'... amazed? Mate, we're about to be relegated for the second time in three years. We've setting new records for how bad we are.

How does this guy deliver his takes with the confidence of a man who's never been wrong – absolutely wild. And that bit about nice cars and 'shagging nice birds'? Especially crass. Worst guest I've listened to on the BSLB pod

That’s the bit that got me. I’ve no problem at all with him having a positive opinion on Rudkin - if that’s his honest view having worked with him, that’s great. But he seemed to imply that anybody who expresses any doubt Rudkin is either stupid or stepping way out of line, as if Rudkin is some kind of artist whose genius we mere mortals are not able to comprehend.

That did make me chuckle.

I was genuinely expecting him at one point to say "we used to be in League One".

He was basically saying that us fans know nothing.

Proper cuck.

He also seemed to be playing down a lot of the young lads. Why mention Ben Nelsons personal or on pitch issues (even in passing). For a loan manager, while he might be managing expectations, seemed very downbeat about any prospects. Is he viewing through the lens of his own experience?

Edit - Also his little dig about Ben Nelson and not being ready "on and off' the pitch. Not sure we'd ever heard of an issue with him? Doesn't seem to be a problem at Oxford!

Yeah that comment about Nelson was odd. There was just something about the way he spoke about the academy lads that seemed off.

He’s the second person who has at some point been employed within Leicester’s youth department that I’ve heard from that seems very reluctant to give first team game time at Leicester to our young players. Obviously they’re the experts but maybe too much attention is given within youth coaching at LCFC to the risks that come with giving game time to the younger players within the 1st team set up rather than any benefits that might bring. As if the rawness they bring into a role can only have a negative impact. Sometimes, surely their unpredictability can be a real strength, particularly off the bench and particularly if its young players in a less risky attacking role?

Agree with the majority of opinions above - thought he came across dreadfully.

A man so 100% cocksure of his own opinions, even when they are so obviously complete bollocks.

I'm also glad I don't have a young son involved at youth level -  when his future would be so dependent on guys like that...

This 100%.

I hadn't finished listening to the pod when I last commented and he got worse. He came over as patronising and full of his own importance, and his comments about Braybrooke and Nelson just made him sound bitter and jealous.

I think his mouth ran away with him, trying to sound itk. He's not done himself any favours at all with that interview, except for with the establishment at the club maybe.

BSLB lads, I'm afraid you've been used, but at least it backfired on the guy (pun intended).

Boilerplate goalpost moving Rudkin defence.

You've got to give Jon credit for winning the title, FA cup etc etc

What about the decline?

Something something different departments, team effort, recruitment to blame, managers to blame, different departments not working together.

Oh - so who was supposed to be supervising those different departments and hiring those managers and recruitment heads (2 in a row with SUNDERLAND on their CVs)?

Silence.

Hahahaaa he's definitely rustled some feathers, I was extremely bewildered. Whilst I didn't agree with a lot of what he said on the academy and questioned some of it, I can respect he has hands on experience so would want to gather other such views to decide.

We've been trying to get Huth on and will keep trying, likewise for a few other ex academy coaches.

The stuff at the end with Rudkin had me in bits, full Ginnetta activated.

Thanks for the feedback, certainly got everyone talking ain't it. Wonder if he fancies the live show 😂😂😂😂

What I'd say though is in my opinion, (so called 👀) guests who have those differing opinions or experiences are equally valuable...I think we could see perhaps what some people who have been or are, around the club, have a certain set of rose tinted spectacles (in the words of big Nige) on. Criticism of the guest on my part isn't a criticism of the episode and I think the way you handled it and questioned was really well done.

there's one bit of potentially valuable insight from it, we can be pretty confident that is the view the current board hold and are still likely holding... sat in meetings together baffled at why people don't like them.

I completely agree. This is the main thing I took away, it's not hard to imagine that mindset has been adopted by so many. They mention coaches who have been there forever etc.

He seems to hold the academy lads in contempt. Maybe he judges them by his own standards because that's what he was like when he was a young player.

It can be hard to listen to someone you disagree with but was interesting all the same. Too much nowadays everyone likes to only listen to views they agree with. As someone said in previous remarks you can now understand why the club is where it is though. Nothing is going to change and we should be worried.

How does someone not wanting to say anything bad because of potential future employment fall under "different opinion" ?

Its not even objective at this point. These clowns have ruined the legacy and ruined the club.

If we want to hear mouthpieces for the club then we might as well rename ourselves North Korea King Power FC

Always good to have someone on who’ll offer a different opinion even if I don’t particularly agree but he completely lost me when he said we need to remember “we’re Leicester city”

He clearly knows way more than me because he actually works in football but I don’t get how a few guests now can say how great Rudkin is but the footballing decisions for the last few years have been so dreadful?

Exact moment he lost me as well - I get he has a conflict of interest with Rudkin so I took that all with a pinch of salt. Soon as you start playing down the club like we're some tinpot outfit, in an era where Nottingham Forest are third and Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford are battling for a European place. Nice try but you don't fool me. You do worry there's very much this attitude at the club itself though. Like a coping mechanism.
