Is our 25 man squad on paper good enough to stay up?

Fairs but without Maddison (who is leaving this summer btw) we would be rock bottom and we are only one point away from the relegation zone so questions have to be asked at this point of the squad.

The actual quality of the squad and the level of quality currently being extracted by our feckless coaster of a manager are in my opinion two very different things.

In the same way Tielemans was leaving last summer. We have an issue of pricing players out of a move and are comfortable allowing players to run down their contracts. It'll be no different for Maddison and he doesn't strike me as somebody who would force a move.

Yeah and look at what Tielemans has done in response. He isn't anywhere near as good anymore since all he can think about is his next big move. Plus with the way our finances are now I don't think we can actually afford not to sell Maddison.

Ricardo (remains to be seen if he can return to pre injury levels)

Faes ( although like to see him with a better partner than Amartey)

 

Kristensen not seen so can't comment.

 

Rest I think should be replaced or now past it. Some have been here for too long and have become stale and others who are simply not as good as people think they are.

Regardless of weather Tielemans is good or bad, Maddison is here until his contract is finished unless somebody pays us silly money. He'll be here next season and if that means his moral is gone, it won't bother Leicester.

It will bother us if his morale is gone because without his goals and assists we would be bottom of the leauge by some distance this season.

He'd have to perform and will neeed to perform if he has any aspirations of euro 2024 England squad.

Going back to that original quote of you, Maddison won't be leaving in the summer, because we'll ask for something silly for a player with a year left.

Southgate didn't play him after having the most goals and assists out of any English player for 2 seasons up until before the world cup. If anything he will do anything to make it into a top 6 team so Southgate can finally pick him.

yes and yes. this is much the same squad we were saying a couple of years back (first half of that first season under Rodgers) would be a real force. fit and with the right mentality it's top half, but our medical team are dogshit (this many soft tissue injuries are indicative of bad training and conditioning programmes) and have had all self belief beaten out of them by a manager who'd throw his nan in front of a bus than admit a single mistake on his part

Last season Maddison and Vardy kept us kicking and screaming up the league and we looked dire without them.

 

This season Vardy looks done so it’s only really Maddison.

Season 20-21 we finished 5th in the league and won the FA Cup.

 

Out of the 20 player squad that played in that FA Cup final we still have 17 of those players. Kasper, Fofana left, Morgan retired. 

 

A certain James Maddison was on the bench. So people honesylylu think without Madders the squad is not good enough?

 

The above is proof that we have a manager who mis- managed the squad, drained the players of all confidence and can’t sign anyone better than players Puel and others signed.

 

Squad is fine, maybe if Rodgers swallowed his prime and played Soyuncu who was in TOTY instead of Dan Amartey for the good of the football clubs future the results may improve

In current circumstances, i.e. the lack of confidence and dreadful management, the answer is no. But if you're talking purely about the quality of it, they should be able to half arse it to a midtable finish. Tells you how dire the current situation is.

In its current state, the squad is lacking confidence and direction. It is also severely lacking goals from the attacking players and we have thus far relied on Maddison and Tielemans quite abit.

 

We're extremely 1 dimensional with our attack, which strangely does not suit the type of strikers we recruit. We need someone in the mould of a Mitrovic who can hold the ball up and bring others into the attack.
