Yes. We're in genuine danger of dissolving.

Pretty sure our parachute payments go to the financiers for Seagrave and we still have a top half Premier League wage bill.

As an aside can anyone find the article that confirms that?

Part of it goes to them, it’s nothing but security. We can pay it how we like. We could refinance.

Serious question… are we in any risk of going bust… with the amount of money we are going to lose?
Do parachute payments still exist?
FFP in the football league, don’t they have a bit more bite than the weak premier league?

Might be dramatic but hopefully someone with more idea on the financial impact can tell me what we are looking at. I’m expecting fines, points deductions and youth players in the starting XI but is that being overly dramatic?

We'll be in a really bad situation. Parachute payments are 55% of what we get in the PL and we already struggle to meet FFP. With no real assets to sell for good money and those who do stay being on PL level wages, it will leave very little room to get in any decent replacements for those leaving. Those suggesting it might be a good thing to go down and reset don't seem to understand how bad a situation we're in

Double relegation could be a real risk. We have out of contract players who despite everything are likely to find Premier League employment as squad players if nothing else, and we also have some that we are going to struggle to keep, Victor, Harvey, Ricardo, Timothy, will be wanted by better teams. There are also a few we need to bin because they are a liability in any division. So we may be needing 10-12 new faces and we won't have enough dough for that sort of scale of rebuild in one summer, plus realistically who is going to want to come ! We will at least finally get salaries back under control, and pay what we can actually afford, dig up the odd gem and sell for a good profit. We need to get back to a model that is far more sustainable financially.

After an amazing 10 years this feels like normal service resumed for a 50 year veteran of following the City.

Marsch is not the right man. This club has always responded best to having a hard case at the wheel.

Hope I'm proven wrong though.

C'mon City

You mean like Martin Allen ? 😃

Dreading it. The way the club is operating currently we are far more likely to rot in that division than we are of doing a Burnley.

In all honesty, I’d rather be in a league where the team might win a few games than relive this shocker of a season. We don’t currently deserve to be in the Premier League. Appalling.

We’d get £70m at least for Maddison and Barnes. We now become fodder for shit teams to pick from, which is good in a way… we they will want some dross.

I’m going to Chuck money on a double relegation.

Likewise, think I'll lump on the £700 I'll get when we're relegated before a ball is kicked next season. Could get anything between 20 & 50/1 and make a wad. Can honestly see us doing a Sunderland or Portsmouth.

With Maddison, Castagne, Ricardo, Daka, Iheanacho, Soumare (and a few more) bringing in money, and another 6 leaving on frees, surely that’s a massive wedge saved?

We just need to be smart in loan deals etc from prem clubs, but I have little faith in our board to get it right

As daft as this may sound to some, Im not concerned about us coming straight back up

I just want to watch a team who plays good football and looks commited, I want to enjoy watching my team again, who even in losses, looks like they are trying and giving everything

Can't get any worse than what we have now. I predicted this was coming back in August

But you predict it every season ?

Bet your loving this misery

Only way we fix this with a bounce back up is getting 8 new through the door EARLY so they understand what the fvck they are doing.

People flapping about we are going to go bust need to give their heads a shake.

Yes it will be shit financially. Yes a number of things such as another look at League 1 could be on the cards or at least a stint in the championship. Yes we may get new owners.

But life outside the premier league goes on. Teams get relegated with large wage bills and don’t go bust.

How many high profile clubs apart from Portsmouth and Wimbledon have gone that way? Because it is rare!

Bidding will start at a low point.Club will be no longer in a position to play hardball

If I’m honest, relegation is the best thing for us. Like when we went down the league 1. Firstly financially for a few seasons we should be totally fine with parachute payments and sales like Maddison for 50m and more. We can reset this whole club and go again.

Any player not willing to commit with a new contract needs selling. We’ll get £100m easily but shouldn’t need to spent a killing to get promoted again. Need to be smart and hope we can save some money for a hopeful return to the prem.

They can start how low they want, half the league will be after both of them.

This is why I think there’s a real danger of a double relegation - the club is in a total state and the Chairman doesnt appear to have a clue.

It be dramatic if it wasn’t a real possibility. Makes the ‘we can’t sack him as it’ll cost too much’ seem a bit stupid now.

It amazes me how many people think it’s going to be a cakewalk to get back - we’re going down with a whimper, club is in a mess behind the scenes. Hardly the stuff for the foundations of a quick bounce back.

It's a real conundrum for the club. They are forced really to refinance. No alternative.

We need the parachute on our books for FFP purposes. Plus, by my maths, need to shift 120m in players too. That's just to remain solvent. And having the can of 160m of refinanced parachute debt kicked down the road.

I think from the shattered ruins of what is left, we will also need to renegotiate deals - for example with Vards to reconfigure his 150k a week to, say, 30k a week for the next 5 years. And ask the likes of who we actually can't get rid of ... Albrighton and KDH and Hamza and Ward and Ricardo to either leave with everyone else or restructure their wages too.
