Hand on heart, does anyone genuinely believe we can beat Newcastle?

irrelevant - if we beat newcastle then it just makes west ham a must win game and we know this squad don't have the bottle from recent history

No chance, the storm clouds are brewing and other forces are at work, and i'm pretty sure that Brighton chairman has got 100 grand on us to go down! Beat Arsenal, man utd and chelsea then lose to Everton and forest...c'mon, there's something dodgy going off!

Gonna be an interesting call come West Ham regarding the players "appreciation lap". Particularly as a number will be leaving. Can see the Birch saying something about staying after to let players show their appreciation despite it being a terrible outcome etc...

Question is how many will be arsed to hang around to wave off Youri, Madders, Cags and Co?

Just want it over with now. Leeds and Everton wins this weekend please, at least hurt Forest in the process and put us out of our misery.

It just will not happen. Newcastle are in form and we are massively out of form and lacking any confidence.

Sadly i think Everton will win at Wolves on Saturday putting us 4 points behind Forest. We'll go to Newcastle on Monday and get thumped resulting in our relegation.

I know where you are coming from.

However, given the torture repeatedly inflicted on us this season I have a horrible feeling that we won’t be down but will be in the relegation zone with safety out of our hands for the West Ham game…which means we will all be lured with our fingers crossed one last time back to the King Power - only to be stricken with even more pain (as v Spurs in 2020/21) by one final fatal bottle job last-day letdown.

In a way I guess that would be the most appropriate climax for this Season from Hell.

We'll likely go into the last day a couple of points from safety, knowing we have a very slim chance of staying up if Leeds and Everton both somehow fail to win their games. We'll be winning 1-0 until the 86th minute, when Faes will fall over allowing Antonio to slip in and equalise for West Ham. Then on the final whistle we'll learn that Everton and Leeds did indeed fluff their lines and we'd have survived if we'd just held onto the lead.

Yeah - like Spurs two years ago with Chelsea losing at Villa. Gut wrenching.

We should have thread for the most comically absurd last day outcomes 🤣

been reading some classics so far.

hey I’d rather laugh than cry! I’m done being upset and angry.

I was thinking more about his positivity.

He doesn't sound positive at all. You can see that he's devastated and less than hopeful about what's going to happen.

I think the Newcastle game will go exactly how it did last night. We will start well, with good intensity, but Newcastle sooner rather than later, will waltz through our defence and score an easy goal. Players heads will go down and I expect an easy 3-0 for Newcastle. Ending all hope and making final West Ham game pointless.

This is coming from someone who is usually optimistic too! This is what this team has done to me, bled me dry!

Its so predictable its untrue. A lot of huff and puff.

Best hope IMO is that Faes never plays for us again, that guy is a defensive bomscare. I feel Souttar and Evans maybe better but possibly vulnerable to pace.

It’s hard to see any other result.

It would be more interesting to see what would happen if we scored first. Given we’ve barely done that this year it’s uncharted territory. But somewhat irrelevant as we don’t seem capable to score first.

imo last night changed nothing really. We had two must win games against Leeds and Everton and we won neither. That was pretty much that, and so it has played out.

You've got more chance of winning the lottery twice in a row.

If Maddison starts against the toon is he realistically going to try and gain a win that could potentially prevent them getting into the champions league next season?
