The club doesn’t seem to do urgent.

Laissez-faire FC will probably appoint a manager days before the season starts with a squad full of academy kids because we didn’t sign anyone quickly enough.

The saleable assets will go.

I asume this includes

Maddison

Iheanacho

Barnes

Ndidi

Ricardo

Castagne

Kristiansen

Daka

KDH

We already know that Tielemans, Soyuncu, Mendy & Tete will leave.

I highly doubt we will be able to offload Ward.

We are left with a massive rebuilding of the first team, however it depends how we choose to look at this. Personally I would relish this task, as we can remove the fat as you call it (correctly) and bring in hungry players who want a chance at the Premier league.

We have everything in place to be a success but the team.

We already have a leader at the back in Souttar and up front in Vardy.  If we can keep Barnes, KDH & Daka as they are all young enough and would certainly help us be a top side in the Championship. It would certainly help Daka if he was given time, to develop.

I am not aware what focus has been placed on the recruitment team, for the challenge of the championship. We must have many options for players that we have scouted who would be willing to play for us in the champ. I have no doubt.

This is a huge task, but it is also an exciting time to see such change, as it could be a great thing like when Pearson first arrived. It is just a huge shame that incompetence brought us here, but it's done now so let's focus on the progression.

Not all of those can go.

I think KDH, Daka, Kristiensen and Ricardo will all stay.

We will have to retain some of the squad, we will give ourselves an impossible task otherwise.

wouldnt mind seeing ricardo go, he barely ever plays these days. shame what happened to him

I was listing these as saleable assets, rather than suggesting they should be sold. 👍🏼

The transfer window doesn’t open till 14th June, will we get those saleable players out on day 1 or will it drag on both on our part holding out for a decent fee or others happy to wait knowing we need something for those players so hold out until we get desperate.

Also June wages will be much the same as those out of contract would normally be up to 30th June, so do we have the headroom within June?

That’s before we have the drawn out affair of getting a manager in and do we go ahead with signing players prior to any appointment?

Sadly whilst it’s 10wks can see us trying to squeeze all this + the Thai tournament in within a 4-6 week period

Not renew and they did get back to their best and left for free then it would be “just another example of mismanagement by the club.” All swings and the other 1 🤷‍♂️

Agreed, but there is quite a big middle ground between no contract renewal and 5 years, perhaps both extremes would be mismanaging and going for a shorter contract was an option.

Plus Justin still had over 2 years on his contract so the club could afford some time and delay the renewal

i think we could see ricardo wasnt getting back to his best when he kept getting injured. ridiculous to give him a new contract in 2022 especially given his age

Like you’ve said it’s been obvious for a while where we were going as a club and it looks like the board simply held onto the belief that we’d stay up and haven’t been pre planning for the eventuality of relegation. Which is breathtaking.

The mind boggles that some can’t bring themselves to see this and fail to be even be remotely critical of this.  Like a broken record live on the past successes, that isn’t getting us promoted now, decisive change and action will. The speed to which transfers go on will mirror any movement that goes on anywhere else too. We’ll get to week 9 and still holding out on higher fees for Madders and Barnes, while fans being told we can afford even free transfers (well maybe not that bad) and we’ll have to stick to our untested youth squad to keep us in the championship. Pessimism at its finest but what a lot of fans could see six months ago those running the club couldn’t, so rinse and repeat. And even then the same sheep will continue to refuse to say anything bad about the god awful decision making that’s self evident.

10 weeks isn’t nearly enough. 8 weeks if you factor in the likely reflection period and manager appointment. I’d be happy to be proved completely wrong but the club have been in reverse gear for the two years.

There’s giving contract extensions and then there’s over generosity. It just seems like our club adds on a year or two extra for everyone whether they ask for it or not. That’s just asking for trouble. We can’t do that anymore going forwards. Time to be shrewd.

That as maybe but Justin was getting there and had just been called up to Eng seniors and ear marked for WCup & given his age and potential ceiling it was probably right….but then he was hit for the 2nd injury

The clock is now running.

We have ten weeks before the first match of next season.

Ten weeks to change the DoF, recruit a manager and his chosen backroom team, and find & fund a squad of players.

I can't remember a time when so much needed doing so urgently - and this is a club with a buck-passing structure that appears to ignore the obvious and dither.

With talk of a meeting taking place this week, it seems obvious that the preplanning that should have been going on over the last month or so hasn't been done. I'm not getting a sense of urgency from anywhere, I'm not hearing a commitment to the future. We didn't suddenly discover we were relegation candidates yesterday, this has been coming at us like a train down the track. The club thought it would divert to another line by luck while a chunk of fans were blaming the onboard passengers for screaming out - applauding the train for making an effort because at some point it used to reside in a little siding.

In effect, we need the management structure sorted within a fortnight to stand any chance of a reasonable recruitment period.

Can we do it?

Do we replace the DoF before contracting a manager?

Will King Power stump up the required funds?

I'm not positive.

Ten weeks to define the club, Susan. Ten weeks, Top.

Pull your collective finger out.

Ten NINE weeks to define the club, Susan. Ten NINE weeks, Top.

Pull your collective finger out, FFS.

Tbf almost everyone involved in football is going to be on holiday. Including a lot of the players we want to target.

We're obviously going to be working behind the scenes, even the worst run club in the world (and we really aren't) would realise they've got half a squad to replace.

And yet other clubs can release statements and begin making appointments.

We don’t have the luxury of sitting on our arses for a fortnight while everyone fvcks off to Scarborough.

7 to 10 days for managerial appointment me thinks

Time for all at the club to take a well earned month off. Really tiring and stressful few weeks.  Plan is to come back refreshed and ready for action in August.

(Arrive back- Jamie, where is everyone?)

I mean they'll have to make changes, that's not my worry.

It's how late they leave it and the fact we will be left picking up the scraps.
