£12m is a lot of money for a club like Bologna. For that amount, they could strengthen several areas of the squad, which they did. Many on here (correctly) predicted that they would baulk at the fee. They probably tried to renegotiate to a lower fee which we rejected.

I remember Matt Piper calling this out when we got hammered at Fulham 3 years ago, it was in the 1st half too !

They signed a very decent player on a free at left back that summer. I watched live for Bologna and he was very good. 
 

People over state the supposedly poor quality of Serie A. Their clubs have done reasonably well in Europe in recent years.

I think he has a weak attitude rather than a bad attitude.  He never wanted to back himself if Mavadidi did actually pass to him in an overlap.

 

He always looked poorly conditioned like a work colleague that plays 5 a side rather than a professional athlete that can go to the gym, train and eat clean food everyday while being paid well. 
 

I understand players not wanting to be here because of the chaos, but I never understood why they didn’t at least keep in shape and work on their ability to get a move elsewhere.

So basically he was crap!  Crap going forward, nervous on the ball, no pace, no quality, poor haircut, terrible right foot, couldn't overlap, couldn't cross, shakey defensively, not very likeable...the list goes on. A catastrophy of a signing!

He’s only been here a few games and I also appreciate we’re playing weaker opposition but when you compare the way Kristiansen used to defend to how McFarlane defends it’s night and day! 

it always looked like defending was an inconvenience to Kristiansen and he wanted to get forwards, so weak 1 v 1 particularly when the ball got put in behind him

Panathinaikos fans may have expressed concerns from time to time about Victor Christiansen’s fitness and whether he will be able to help the team this season — after all, he has yet to make an appearance in the club’s famous green shirt. Nevertheless, there is complete calm within the club!

The Danish left-back is working hard every day with the people at Panathinaikos, with the aim of integrating into team training and competitive matches as quickly and smoothly as possible. And all this while he is already medically cleared and fully fit from a medical standpoint.

Why hasn’t he joined team training yet?

Of course, this does not automatically mean that he is already ready to contribute. His medical tests showed that some of the muscles in his legs have atrophied as a result of his eight-month absence from football.

As a result, the player is currently training individually and following a specific strengthening programme, gradually increasing the intensity of his workouts every day.

When will we see him join team training and be included in matchday squads?

Panathinaikos estimate that the 23-year-old defender will be ready to help the team immediately after the long international break. The break will run from September 21 to October 6.

Further evidence of this is the fact that he has been included normally in the club’s European squad list, suggesting that everything in his case is now moving in the right direction.
