Probably going to get a bit of stick for this but I think someone like Jacob Greaves would be a better shout if VK leaves. 

 

Not only would he give us depth at CB but being left footed and having the ability to play LB, he also gives us depth in the Doyle role which would free up Doyle to play in the central CB slot. 

 

Maybe not as good as THB and with a lower ceiling but perhaps more suited to our system and cheaper.

Somebody will get injured along the way and if Souttar leaves will be Ben Nelson coming in

Don’t get me wrong it would be nice to effectively have quality cover for every position… I guess even if we classed JJ and Doyle as our “LBs” having Faes, Vestergaard, Coady and THB would be a bit excessive imo… if we do make a move for him I wouldn’t be surprised to see Vestergaard or Faes leave before deadline day

Greaves is quality, Hull have a bit of clout behind them though so he'd not be cheap. THB arguably cheaper.

Thb is England U21 captain too. Will be knocking on the door for the senior team soon. No doubt Man City will have a ridiculously low buy back clause in there somewhere.

 

Tbh out of the U21 team, thb, Trafford and Colwill probably make the step up. Currently I can't see any others doing so.

Man City don't tend to put that arbitrary buy back clauses in, usually about triple what they sell for which is fairly reasonable IMO. Buy for £12m, buy back for £35-40m is fine with me.

That's fine. We play 3 at a time and don't play conventional full backs. I'd be more than happy with 5 in the squad.

With our injury track record, we need approximately 8 centre backs....

also from what I remember these buy backs sometimes have an expiry, remember the Kel one

 

but im with you,if we can get THB for £10m then sell for like £30m, id be fine with that

Not in Europe, but the Championship. So we play 46 games instead of 38 and the earlier rounds of the league cup.

The point being you need much more quality when it comes to strength in depth when competing in the prem alongside European football…. Like I said having 4/5 cbs all good enough to be starting competing for 2 spots isn’t going to be happening in the championship imo, JJ will cover for/compete with Doyle and Riccy P so it will be 2 from Vestergaard, Faes, Coady and THB if we sign him plus we’ve still got Souttar and Ben Nelson…. So going back to my original post I’d be surprised to see THB coming in as a replacement for Castagne I would’ve thought we’d have to shift 1 or 2 cbs from the list above if we were to bring him in
