Gordon Milne was manager when I first started going in 82/83.

Will always have a soft spot for him.

I agree, he's probably the most underrated.

Either him or Gary Megson

I’d have to say those 6 weeks under the Ginger Mourinho were the happiest 6 weeks of my Leicester supporting life and certainly the catalyst for everything that came next.

I'd agree. Maybe Jimmy Bloomfield, but I was a bit too young to watch games at Filbert Street under his reign. Our team more than held its own in the top league in  the 80s under Milne. For some reason a section of fans never warmed to him.

Gary Megson

I was gonna make a Megson joke lol

Gary Megson is our ultimate butterfly effect moment. If he doesn't leave he probably keeps us up.

Without relegation we probably don't have the Pearson era and without it, well.

Little.

Still gets ridiculous abuse from some fans for how it ended, conveniently forgetting he turned a nearly-relegated utterly hopeless side into promotion contenders in the space of a pre-season and making 91-92 (in that Bukta kit) one of our greatest second tier seasons. Had Wright, Russell and Kitson replaced with Ormondroyd, Gee and Davidson and still got us to another two play-off finals.

The era of bucket hats and tickertape, Wembley trips and the ZDS cup. Great days.

That Cambridge 5 - 0 was probably the happiest I ever saw Filbo.

Brian Little was a fantastic manager and the vitriol he received was a mark of how much he was admired so when he ****ed off it hurt - In retrospect I blame the board more for how it was handled rather than him wanting to go back to the Villa

Anyone still holding a grudge to the great man need to give their head a wobble.

He also always speaks very highly of us and over the years his achievements seem even more profound as we were seriously crap before he came in.

His first game was at Swindon and I've never seen a set of fans celebrate a 0 - 0 so vociferously  (we'd played them a few months previously at the end of the 1st Great Escape season and been absolutely hammered 5 - 2)

In recent times I think the job Puel did was not appreciated. He steadied a sinking ship and I can’t recall a manager during our PL stint that had more success with transfers.

He also integrated Barnes and Chilwell into the squad and dealt with the Maguire situation really well.

The Vichai tragedy would have been horrible to deal with and he handled that very well too.

Results and performances weren’t great but he did set us up for the success under BR.

It certainly looks better when people rewrite things- he had no Maguire situation to deal with. Rodgers came in and lifted that same team except for Perez to fifth. The football was turgid, he tried to play Gray ahead of Vardy upfront, he treated legends like Andy King shamefully off the pitch and generally brought a terrible atmosphere to the club, Schmeichel was leaking stuff to the press through his Dad, Fuchs was set to leave because he hated it so much. Puel did a below average job, only slightly helped by taking over from Shakespeare who was out of his depth. Nonetheless, he was outstanding with the way he dealt with the Helicopter disaster that killed five people.

Milne was under rated , for some  reason the 83/84 season sticks out as one of my favourite seasons, from the hopeless start, to the Southampton washout game to the thrilling 3-3 with Liverpool in the latter part of the season.

Unfortunately we were not great defensively, i think his time could be summed up by the following the following season.

20 September 1984 Sheff Weds away - lose 0-5

27 September 1984 Aston Villa home - won 5-0

One of my favourite games ever.

26,000 packed in under the lights against an excellent Liverpool side.

And another Andy Peake screamer!

Little - was the first name I thought too

Three consecutive top 6 finishes in a competitive 2nd tier before getting us promoted with in a typical 2nd tier squad.

But my Nan who has Darlington as her 2nd team was ecstatic when we appointed him and he broke her heart the way he left - so not sure I've forgiven him yet!

I think big Nige by a lot of fans. he has has devout admirers among the fan base who definitely don’t under appreciate him but there’s a big bulk of fans who think he’s useless and can’t stand him for some reason so in that sphere he’s massively under appreciated.

I'm not so sure about that.

There's a big bulk who aren't NP fan boys for sure, but I still think they respect what he did for us.

I just think the reason some still don't warm to him so much is purely down to some of his antics and erratic behavior (FOAD, strangling McCarthy, Ostrich gate etc.)

its how far you want to go back we came second in 1926 and for some years around that period we were considered one of the top sides in the country and without looking it up  dont even  know his name and some years later  Matt  Gillies was some manager
