The Foxes Trust is supporting the FSA by encouraging any LCFC fans who uses the train to travel to LCFC fixtures (Away or at Home) to complete a small survey

Rail industry seeks fans’ views on train travel – Foxes Trust

Simple, over my 70 yrs, left the fans in the shunting yards

or halfway around the  turntable.
Totally unreliable…over any season.

Also Still behind on barrier free access to many services and support.

Don’t bother complete waste of tim e the survey does not ask or facilitate any responses to the real challenges impacting choosing to travel by rail to football matches. It’s a tick the box approach to say they consulted users. Shame on the FSA for putting their name to it.

Sadly this, classic 'consultation'.

Guess fan groups hands are damned if they complete it and damned if they dont though.

Yep. Hard to see how this could lead to any meaningful change, maybe apart from some of the offers mentioned being brought in.

Just bring back Football Specials and make tickets cheaper. It's not rocket science.

Might be talking bollox here but doesn't the German model involve a joint match/rail ticket combined? That's what we need and refunds for when the broadcaster's (:@) moved the fixture to some impossible date/time.

I don't use the trains, it's far too much hassle as things stand.

It does, for the Euros in the summer ticket holders get 24/48hrs of public transport usage.

Whereas in England we offer services at stupid times/costs for any game goers and wonder why the amount of traffic is heavy around grounds.

Depends on the area. In certain regions you have access to regional trains and other public transport for free on matchdays, but the ticket doesn't cover high speed trains.

Mind you, I did manage to jib on an ICE with a match ticket to get to Bochum last year when my train from Cologne was severely delayed. Depends on whether the inspector's an arse or not (much like here I guess).

UK rail infrastructure is not fit for purpose and the state of train services in this country have made us an international laughing stock (excuse the pun)

Victorian railways plus and a failed privatisation model for which we're all literally paying the price in both fares and subsidization. These companies rake in massive profits whilst providing extortionate 3rd world services.

Nationalise the lot of them.

Is this the kind of thing they're after, or?

Exactly. There’s no incentive for privately owned train companies to subsidize or give free travel to match goers to ease traffic, where’s their profit? I assume trains in Germany are nationalised and under government control, so they can offer things that benefit everyone.

Another point about Germany is that Football Specials are very much still a thing, often chartered by the fans themselves.

They're great and come complete with a disco/bar carriage!

Remember one that clubs in this country used, a train called a leagueliner which had a disco on it am sure Leicester used it for Liverpool one year probably the 1970's.

English clubs and TV make it as hard as possible for any match goers to actually attend games.

Minute something remotely off happens aboard and they're protesting

Football Specials won't ever come back. Even the most optimistic, football fans' football fan can't be delusional enough to think that a minority of dickheads won't ruin it. Look at Wembley at the Euros. Those idiots won't ever let you have football specials back and it isn't The Man that's the problem.

And don't tell me it works in other countries, people are a lot more respectful in other countries, particularly towards public transport. We are ****ing animals.

But rail travel in this country does need massive reform. Not just for football fans, for everybody. It's disgusting how far it's been able to fall. The standard is terrible and the cost is absolutely absurd. It shouldn't cost you more to go an hour to London than it does to go to the ****ing Algarve.

You get anti-social behaviour from football fans on the railways over there too (pyro out the window, vandalism, attacks on trains carrying rival fans etc). In fact, I'd argue German troublemakers have a much higher ceiling for chaos, both in public places and stadia, than their English counterparts.

The difference is that the authorities understand the twin benefits of being able to transport hundreds of normal fans effectively and also keeping any herberts off of regular service trains. The idea that you *might*, on the odd occasion, have to deal with an incident like those outlined above is priced in. On balance, it's still well worth doing from their point of view.

The odd Football Special does still run here (London clubs from midweek at our place , for example) so a return to their routine use really isnt that far-fetched if British fans keep on making the case for their return (see also safe standing areas).

i see train prices are going up 4.9% (cos saying 5% is way worse) from march 3rd. for a service that's constantly delayed or cancelled. we let so much shit slide in this country it's unreal.

Football Specials do operate in the country - normally club led. Likes of Chelsea and Spurs have ran charters from Leicester station. Which kinda of dismisses the anti-social behaviour ie. they are happy to do it for a price.
