Guaranteed relegation battle and no funds for player transfers. Our club is right royally fu*ked at the minute and if Enzo ditches us, what is already an incredibly challenging season is about to get a lot worse. In an ideal world i'd like to see Potter take the job but can't see past a championship manager realistically. There are plenty of managers that would love the job. A team that wasn’t far off breaking the points record in a very competitive Championship. No massive expectations from fans for this season and a club that historically have rewarded managers well. Also a great setup at Seagrave to do your work. If it didn’t work out this season, you have plenty of excuses you could point out as well, so your reputation would remain intact. 2
Dan Posted 28 May 2024 Posted 28 May 2024 People who genuinely tout the likes of Amorim and De Zerbi really haven't understood the scale of the damage our board have done to us. The bookies have us 20th. We were fancied more going into 2014/15! 4

Edwam1972 Posted 28 May 2024 Posted 28 May 2024 I have been reliably informed Lennie Lawrence has just lumped 2 grand on himself at 40/1

And how nobody knows how many points we might be deducted. Obviously all self inflicted though. Baffling the decline we’ve seen over the last 2.5 years.

I cannot understand how anyone can operate in a role full time and have everything get away from them. Board members must either feel like they’re underwater and out of their depth or utterly isolated from their own mistakes. I know which I think it is 1

In an ideal world i'd like to see Potter take the job but can't see past a championship manager realistically. Some peoples outlook is mental. Firstly, we don’t have ‘no funds’ available…. This has never been the case, and will continue to never be the case… what we can’t do is go around paying stupid wages, offering stupid contracts and paying over the odds for average players. We need to be shrewd with our business, which we’ve arguably shows signs of doing this summer, signing players like Mads, and Winks for peanuts. Provided we stick to a model of not overextending ourselves beyond the allowed financial restrictions, we will be fine. It’s not guaranteed to be a relegation battle either, the deduction is likely not to come by the winter, if we manage to get on a good run prior to this deduction we could end up being in a position where it doesn’t have a massive impact on us. No one is denying that it won’t be tough, it will, but by Christ, the last time we were written off we won the ****ing league. You can’t write us off, you simply can’t, no matter how chaotic things seem behind the scenes. We’ve got a talented squad, we just need a manager capable of maximising the potential within it, along with some shrewd signings we will be alright in my opinion. Edited 28 May 2024 by Pliskin 9

420Hashish Posted 28 May 2024 Posted 28 May 2024 (edited) I think we might get a left field choice again. The board took the risk on Maresca and it worked out for the most part so maybe we they won't go through the merry go round circus and appoint somebody we'd never expect.
