I don't go into my appraisal and say how great I was doing 2 or 3 years ago - my employer wants to know the value I'm adding over the last 6 months. The only conclusion you can draw from all of Cooper's work so far and his continued application for the job is it is hugely sub standard. The last game we won with a lot of good luck (which I appreciate you need) and was despite of the clown I appreciate we see things differently but seriously this guy is absolutely useless. Don’t you think useless is a little harsh? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not convinced, we haven’t put in a 90 minute performance and have generally started games badly, but useless I think is too harsh. He came in expecting the worst points deduction ever and operated in a window with that hanging over. If we finish where we are now we would be delighted no? 1

No, I'm struggling to think of one thing he's brought to the team and the club - I'd actually say totally useless. I'm at the point of anyone but Cooper - He seriously needs to get his act together. 1
Popular Post sharpylcfc Posted 18 October 2024 Popular Post Posted 18 October 2024 Been really enjoying no football now back to the absolute snorefest that is Steve Cooper football. Can't wait for the day he leaves, hopefully this weekend if we lose. 5

Everyone knows what they don’t want but no one knows what they want. Who’s a realistic, better manager than Cooper put there right now who would take the job, bearing in mind we probably can’t afford to buy out contracts?

Don’t think he is many peoples first choice, but he is here now, perhaps due to lack of better options, we are doing ok. Agree that statistically we are risking far too much and that may well cause us to come undone, but as we have bypassed the ideal window for a (oh so unlikely) change, might as well support him. Who’s a realistic, better manager than Cooper put there right now who would take the job, bearing in mind we probably can’t afford to buy out contracts? Being able to produce a list of realistic replacements isn't a prerequisite for wanting Cooper - or any manager - gone though. I am a humble football fan who thinks Cooper is shit, not a director of football with a big contact book and the resources of a Premier League club at my disposal. It's a bit like how in January '23 I didn't have a big long list of quality goalkeepers who I was confident would sign for us, yet I think it would have been pretty reasonable of me to say I wanted us to sack Ward off and get someone better in. I think you are completely right in your previous post in that almost all of us would happily take finishing 15th - my concern is that I don't think our current level of performance extrapolated over the course of the season sees us finishing that high, nor have I been given any reason to believe that level is going to increase to any significant degree. 5

Popular Post Gazza M Posted 18 October 2024 Popular Post Posted 18 October 2024 What are people going to do if we are comfortable mid table after this run of fixtures? Still demand Coreban or Potter. I hope Cooper proves some people wrong. If he messes up I will rightly criticise but still backing the guy at the minute. 2 3

Why not? Nuno went wolves in the championship. Bielsa went Leeds in the championship. Benitez went Newcastle in a relegation scrap. Why do we have to put ourselves in a bubble that we’re in a relegation scrap? The longer Cooper is here we will be. There are a lot of poor sides in this league. Imo we could finish between 15th and 12th. With Cooper we won’t. If Palace and West Ham can get a Europa league winning managers I can’t see why we can’t at least look at these managers who are readily available. 6

Absolute bull. Plenty of reasons why decent european managers are attracted to the premier league. And our recent history does matter. It gives an indication of the clubs aspirations and the backing a manager will get. You're entitled to your opinion of course. But that's all it is. With your attitude we may as well give up now! 2

If we are midtable with Cooperball then I still won't be enjoying because it's hideous. 2

Royston. Posted 18 October 2024 Posted 18 October 2024 I would guess our board are satisfied with the job Cooper is doing, this season was always going to be tough/handicapped in the transfer market but we havent been thrashed (yet) not in the relegation zone, still in the Carabao and we've won a league match i also guess they give a shit about playing style and tactics or lack thereof....
