I totally agree but it’s a combination of fitness, determination and mentality which are not a given.

I disagree with the Winks comparison though. Watch Skipp’s highlights when he was at Norwich in the championship. He was a solid ball winning midfielder which Winks is definitely not and Skipp is definitely not a deep lying playmaker which Winks most probably is but I’m still unsure.

Maybe you’re right about ball winning. As I say ive not looked at any stats 😂. I’m just going on my eye and I just don’t see that much in a destructive or creative sense that makes me salivate about Skipp in our midfield and he certainly doesn’t make me think he’s like a poor man’s Kante. Maybe a poor man’s James Garner then?

Most of the positive comments about him reference a season in The championship 5 years ago when Skipp was in his first flush of youth. A lot of time has passed since then and he’s not stood out at either Spurs or here.

Be very interesting to see how this pans out. I remember asking my Spurs mate when we signed Winks and then Skipp. He thought Winks was not much cop but a high regard for Skipp.

Most spurs fans I saw on social media were  amazed that we paid £25m for Skipp and weren’t particularly bothered about either Skipp or Winks leaving 😂

Didn't discuss the Skipp fee with my mate I was interested that his view of both players were chalk and cheese

I would like to retract this comment and apologise to everyone. I will now learn to live with the shame.

He wasn't that bad though (not a high bar in the first half). Certainly did more than Soumare. And that's the problem, why have 2 defensively minded midfield players in there? Should have been Winks and Skipp and hopefully we manage to bring one in this month.

Spent the first 45 minutes hiding behind Sheffield Wednesday players so he wouldnt have to get on the ball. Winks comes on and demands it. Quality difference was night and day. Bloke needs to grow a pair and quick because that was pathetic from a ‘£20 million player’

Wasn't able to watch much of the first half, but was he really that bad? Felt Soumare was easily worse, either when slowing things down/going backwards, getting in the way of teammates, not showing for the ball.

I noticed Skipp made a good run into the box near the end of the half and Fatawu could've played him in, but he chose to go alone and lose the ball.

He's not great, but we shouldn't have him AND Bouba on the pitch at the same time.  They offer nothing offensively.  Marti clearly wants him there to press, as in preseason, but it's all a bit redundant if he offers nothing when we have the ball, cos we'll have it a lot this season.

Hopefully that's the lesson Marti takes from that game. We will face many low blocks.  Skipp was sh1t but Soumare also had zero bravery in the first half and didn't want to pass it forwards.

I would prefer them not to be at the club at the same time - having to pick 1 to start is choosing between two evils

He probably had a premonition of what would happen if he played Skipp in.
