Him and Nelson need someone experienced and with genuine quality alongside them. Them two being together is never the answer. 

 

You need composure and reassurance and if not you need to be good at bailing yourself out which he struggles with too. That's before getting on the fact his passing ability is Sunday league.

He is not much better. Currently he's part of a defence that concedes on average 2 goals a game and he doesn't stand out at all. Someone pulled up the stats in a different thread. For defensive headers, interceptions, blocks and other stats per 90 mins - Okoli is better statistically.

 

Nelson is just lucky he's an academy graduate. A lot of people bigged him up earlier in the season and can't accept he isn't living up to it, so make excuses for him, or ignore his mistakes. Nelson is much better on the ball though.

 

They both need an experienced defender to help them.

Him being an academy player is irrelevant. Nelson can actually retain possession and is no worse at defending than Okoli. That makes him a better player IMO. Drop Okoli and start Lascelles

Not gonna get sucked in to the guff posted about Nelson on here, but him and Okoli are an awful partnership. Nelson desperately needs Lascelles or Vestergaard fit asap to actually get a chance. He’s a young lad constantly having to mop up a more senior Okoli’s mistakes.

I mean, other than on the grounds of relative youthfulness, I'm certainly not going to defend Nelson either. If you think he's worse then fine. It's a matter of which pap-splatter is the stinkiest.

It is relevant though. Cause people make excuses for him and over look his mistakes. Then Okoli gets all the blame. There's a reason after every game Okoli's thread has pages of posts but nobody posted in Nelson's thread for a month.

 

Neither of them are good enough currently, which is why we've conceded too many goals.

 

I agree Nelson is better. But they're not judged equally.

Bombscare of a player. 

 

I reckon Winks absolutely hates him. 

 

Constantly takes ages to pass the ball and when he does, sometimes it's a hospital pass and gets others into trouble.

Okoli got a lot of stick against Stoke but that’s because he was 100% responsible for the goal. If that had been Nelson he would’ve got stick for it. It is ultimately down to who looks the better footballer though. Nelson looks better on and off the ball. Watching a player who can barely kick a ball properly is a very difficult watch and those players are going to get more frustrated comments accordingly. The fact we have two non footballers in Okoli and Daka makes it even worse.

Definitely. For all his flaws, down the years you could pick out 20 or so decent performances from him at the highest level. You could stick Okoli in the Man City line-up week-in-out for a decade and he wouldn't manage that.

Said it the other night, he looks like an athlete from another sport who's been asked to have a go at football, with the way he controls and passes the ball.
