He's left or was pushed... No loss there, did nothing!

Maybe Huth has moved into a coaching role?

I’ll stick my hand up for this job on one condition,  every single loan will be made to the A-League so I don’t need to travel or watch games at 3am

But if the pay is so competitive just disclose it? I hate it when businesses do it. Why should candidates even apply if you’re going to withhold such crucial info?

Because it’s a lever for anyone internally to know the salary of an externally advertised job.

and….if advertised as competitive you might get a candidate that is exceptional but over budget for the role advertised, but you decide the extra salary is worth it. If you advertised the role at a certain salary, you could end up excluding some candidates with their expectation.

This role in question will be reasonably high paying so even more chance of negotiation on the package…I’m not recruiter but just my experience.

Ask the younger sibling @JonnyBoy or @Greg2607 who both know their onions on this topic more than me.

you are right with above points, but it also means they potentially miss out on good applicants who will not apply if the salary isn't advertised. "competitive salary doesn't pay bills blahdy blah" You see it more with larger corporations versus SME's in my experience.

You’ve got my vote, as long as none of the younger players go to Melbourne City and get poached by Man City - Oh and maybe Ward to Sydney?

Get the Palace Loan Arranger in.  He can get some unwanted talent out.  In fact their Director of Football at Palace may be worth a punt too.  He has experience in moving on surplus.

Big companies and public sector tend to do it as they want people to do (largely) crap jobs, as much work under poor conditions for as little money as is possible. It's a practice that should be banned, I don't care if it gives leverage for others to be paid properly for the jobs they do, I'm actually sick of big companies taking the piss out of workers who do the work, and paying useless managers and consultants over the odds, it's common place in this country and it's exactly why our productivity and waste is so bad.

think these are quite sweeping statements, quite a lot of the salaries I see that are hidden are for a lot of "senior" positions. I agree there are some organisations - one particular in the public sector that will have a lot of middle managers/consultancy type positions that are massively overpaid

You're not wrong re. why our productivity is so bad. There are so many overpaid brown nosing bullshitters who get listened to and promoted over people who actually know what they're doing. This is down to the vanity and greed of those at the top.

The ones who know what they're doing eventually think 'whatever' and generally if they're over 50, retire if they can afford it or quietly quit until they can, or if they're under 50, leave for a new job (and probably rinse and repeat). A large proportion of 50-65 year olds are pissed off and/or disengaged with work and it's a massive problem.
