Abdul is exciting but he is still very raw and capable of poor decisions resulting in losing the ball, so understand why he does not start, but is a scary impact player.

Hope and expect this to change as the season progresses.

Exciting side and pleasantly surprised to see a more attacking side against a team I thought we would field 10 Ayew's against.

I'm just a bit worried that we look a bit lightweight with both young attacking midfielders playing. I would have preferred Fatawu on the right and Buonanotte more centrally. I think the fullbacks might get exposed. However nice to see something different hope Bilal does OK

I've seen nothing from El Khannous so far to suggest he is going to be strong enough or quick enough for the Premier league.

I don't understand why you would play Abdul, just his name on the team sheet would strike fear into that saints team!

Of course Cooper is a complete moron, so we have what we have.

To be fair it doesn’t matter what side Cooper picks, his football is turgid and dreadful…. It’s like starting a chess game with all of the pieces, but now knowing how to play. Whoever he picks, he will manage to reduce to the football to style Gary Megson would be proud of.

He's about as predictable as the constant drivel thats to be expected in your posts.

Probably because he's only played one game

And he was utterly out of hid depth if I remember correctly, subbed at half time.

He needs to perform on these chances.

Normally though you see something in a quality player, a touch, a pass, pace, skill, vision, there was none of that I saw. Hope he comes good as he cost a shit tonne, but playing in the premier league is hugely different.

@StriderHiryu called it in his ForFoxSake analysis that they would go to a wingback system given the pressure on their manager.

Ha I was just about to say! Are they going 2 men up top or just one, that's what we need to look out for. If they are, who is that player? I think it might be Dibling, though he will start from deep.

This will change the game a lot, we will probably have more possession than Southampton now. This makes the BEK and Buonanotte pick look even better.

One chance and your out? Super harsh judgement.

So what does that make BdcR?

Fair enough. Mind you, I'm not defending Cooper here. He doesn't even know how to utilise his bench ingame so I don't care who is sitting there. I just hope we somehow manage to win the game with the first XI.

I saw some good touches and passes, happy to give him more than 1 game as well

Well done cooper. Remember, he has watched all of our games and remembers that fatawa was was not unplayable in anywsy or did not score a hattrick last time we played them.

Despite this sarcasm, happy with line up but harsh on Fats.

I know only complaining is allowed here where Cooper is concerned but would you rather have issues with the bench or the starting eleven?

Coopers watched all of our games from last season apparently…….

Cooper saying he watched all our games from last season is the same level of BS as the FA saying they interviewed “approximately ten”candidates for the England job.

Early days to make such a judgment, but with it being such early days I’m shocked he’s starting today.

In other circumstances, we wouldn’t be expecting him to make a difference this season IMO.

Not out no, but maybe a few bench appearances, not a start away in a must win game, build some confidence,  fitness etc. He has to perform so now the pressures on, I don't blame the player just feel it's shit management which is no surprise from Cooper.

Vesty had a fallout with that person who thinks he's a football manager. McAteer is too soft for PL. I agree Ward should not even be in the squad though.

So who are you going to have on the bench as back-up keeper?  Iverson is out on loan, & Jacob is still out injured.

Buananotte is scrappy as hell. certainly not soft. The Canoe does look a bit lightweight tbf

Exactly, I'm not saying he'll be bad in future but he needs time, unless he's been storming it in training I am not sure what gives him a start ahead of a bloke who destroyed the same defence last year.
