With the likelihood that we will get a transfer embargo from the EFL, I’d like to see us bring in players who will be with us for a campaign in the Championship, I.e not short term signings who will want to f*** off at the end of the season and also who will be able to be kept financially in terms of wages.

If we chase short term and go down anyway, we will be even more in the shit. Time for the club to be smarter and actually plan ahead which is unlikely anyway.

Players like Louis Barry. If Villa will sell, young and nailing it in League 1 and seems to be able to step up a level each time.

NO JUST NO

I'm with you there mate on Grealish.

I just don't see the hype with the guy.

Spends most of the time on his @rse and passing inside.

Only in the England set up because he plays for Man City, never really considered when he was at Villaaaa

Surely you have missed Daka off the sell list, or is it we have no chance of palming him off to anyone

@Ric Flair, was it yourself who was talking up Leaburn at Charlton? I have seen him having scored a couple recently but not aware of how he is going on. Any ideas?

Yes, he's had a little of injury problems the last 18 months that effected his form but he's started bagging again.

Richard Kone is also the one to be looking at in League One.

Sounds good. Do you think both could step up well to the Championship? These and the likes of Barry are ones I’d like us to be looking at.

I would hope our own Brandon Cover might also step up. This is how we stabilise ourselves for next season and the future. Not be chucking £20mill on rubbish like we have done before.

Would it be worth looking at Chilwell to take up the loan slot left by cancelling Edouard?

Reguillon or Chilwell are a no brainer

Doesn't have near the consistency we need at this moment and very injury prone.  Goes missing in games. Does have all the attributes to become a top player, but for us, now? No.  Wife's a charlton fan so watch most of their games.

Is there an argument for deliberately breaking FFP rules and spending whatever it takes to remain in the premier league. Sod the point deduction just stay up. Florist more or less did it and now look at them. I'd be tempted to stick two V's up at the rules and buy enough talent to make us a proper Perm side again and then deal with the consequences next season. Take the point deduction on the chin. Factor it into our plans.

I think it's worth the gamble. We're done for if we go down anyway. It's point deduction next season in the Prem. Or Point deduction in the EFL. What have we got to lose.

The thing is, it's not just one year. Spending £100m next month would only be £20m additional costs (+ wages) on the books but it's the case for 5 years too. So if that's enough to tip us over and we stayed up, we'd likely have problems the next season/s too unless a lot drops off.

Mr Bingles makes a good point though. If we go down we're definitely getting a deduction of some sort, so a PSR overspend now just means we get a potential deduction in the top division.

I suppose the issue lies in breaking PSR on a load of new signings and still going down.  Then you're majorly fxxked.

Sounds like Ayew

He's had his impishness coached out of him by Pep.

He won't care, has the medals AND the money

RB/LB - Either because I doubt we’ll have the funds for both, although, I think Kristiansen is a better defender than Justin. Is Lamptey out of our reach? Reguilon would be a good addition as mentioned previously. I’d take Veltman and Coufal as well.

CB - Ben Mee and/or Adam Webster.

CM - Christian Norgaard?

LW - Mavididi just isn’t it, needs competition. Buonanotte can play on the right where he looks at his best. Ilias Chair?

ST - Not sure who we get but we need someone better than Daka. RvN must’ve been pulling his hair out at the mistimed swing at the ball vs Liverpool, and you just can’t afford to do that in this league, we’ve seen it far too often.

Absolute priority is a good CB who can organise things at the back and offer a threat in the opposition box. Like in 14/15, when Huth's arrival for about £3m in January absolutely transformed the season for us - and of course the following season. :)

Second priority is a RB who is fast, and able to attack well and defend.

Third priority is a RW who offers pace and goal contributions, plus ideally the ability to deliver good set pieces (we are desperate for someone who can do that).

If there is money left after that, then I would look at bringing in a target man who can hold up the ball and bring others into play. We've lacked this option since Ulloa left.

I know some are saying that CM needs strengthening but I think we just about have enough if 2 of Winks, Ndidi and Soumaré are available. Not ideal but enough, given the resources at our disposal.

Most of those are clearly not joining us. However some would be decent additions and improve us.

I’m looking at Tierney, Davies, Meret, Maguire, Kolasinac improve the defence.

Meret in if we need to sell Hermansen to finance elsewhere?
