HIGNFY - put this tedious dads jokes nonsense out of its misery

It's only good when British Politics is a parody of itself. Sadly the reason we aren't getting anymore Thick of It - Politics was so bonkers during the last decade that it couldn't even be satirised.

For years, one of the best quiz shows on the box, A Question of Sport turned into an annoying attempt at modern entertainment. The "comedy" is toe curling, the guests are largely boring thicko's & the whole programme is box ticking exercise by a once great broadcasting company. Now gone forever.

bring back "Sporting Triangles"!!

It was alright up to and including the early Tuffers and Matt Dawson, now it's a shit version of League of their own

At its peak during John Parrott and Ally McCoist.

Deal or no deal, cringe fest and they removed the 250k prize.

Also Celebrity Jungle another cringe fest first couple where good never watched it since

I can't understand why ITV resurrected it. Or even why it was commissioned in the first place. It's simply a guessing game which the presenter strains every sinew to generate some excitement or jeopardy and the "contestants" (guessers) try to treat every turn as if their life depended on it.

Not to mention the fake camaraderie. Double cringe.

Most travel programmes

I used to like them but you are basically watching rich famous people get paid to go on holiday.

Particularly true of the series of Amazing Hotels with that bloke that used to be a Judge (Rinder)? And some woman that is a food critic I think.

Just C listers paid to visit extremely luxurious hotels in exotic places thereby providing an hours worth of free promotion for the hotels.

It's not even a meaningful travelogue.

The more-recent The Simpsons episodes.

The older ones seem more original and 'genuine'.

Difficult to match the originals for satire and poking fun.

Like most good comedy series, they hit a peak and then become more parodies of themselves if allowed to continue, or worse, a "remake".

Examples such as Still Open All Hours and Rock and Chips (Only Fools And Horses).

It's disappointing when a good comedy series ends but in hindsight it's for the best. (Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, The Office etc)

What's wrong with The Wheel?

Macintyre is nowhere near as much of a creep as Ben Shepherd on Tipping Point. Always going in for those awkward hugs, and especially with the women.

What's wrong with The Wheel?

Michael Macintyre, that's what. Shouting to try to sound excited. "SPIN THE WHEEEEEEEEEEL"

The premise is decent. He's the issue

Wouldn't any presenter do that?

Are you Macintyre's love child or something?

He's irritating and spoils the show.

He should stick to what he's decent at, stand-up comedy. Having seen him live, that's his best format.

MOTD the way its going, rumours of Roman Kemp will just finish it for me. Most irritating guy on tv... got on thanks to daddy.

I'm a celeb, loved it once but it's been going stale for years.

Coronation Street, never known far fetched soap... well okay Eastenders maybe. But how can one street have so many affairs and murders... barely recognise anyone on it now. Not watched in ten years. Gets more stupid every year, with it's strange storylines. Won't be long till bring a time travel story line.. it's getting that daft.

How then, do you know?

Been on the box since 1990, believe it or not.

It's still a decent satirical show IMO. Granted the writing could be better.

I'm abroad and for some reason we have bbc 2 on the TV and HIGNFY US was on, I didn't know that existed and I really wish it didn't. I won't be watching any more of it.

I thought it was his idea.

Likely an unpopular opinion due to giving it any praise at all, but Mrs. Brown’s Boys.

The first couple of series were a novel concept, getting to see behind the scenes of a sitcom and all the bloopers. It was witty in places and the amateurish nature of it fitted the premise. But as time went on it became more and more contrived, the script nosedived and Brendan O’Carroll was increasingly revealed to be rather unpleasant.
