I actually think Cooper is more dogmatic than Enzo. Enzo switched to a more counter-attacking style against Southampton late on in the season when we were struggling for form and we picked them off without mercy. In other words, he knew when his way wasn't working and how best to counter a team who wanted to play in the same style.

 

Cooper just serves up the same muck every week. Defend, defend, defend. Try not to get mullered. Doesn't matter if it's Arsenal away or Wolves at home. Or if it patently isn't working because the players he inherited aren't minded to play that way.

 

He's no pragmatist.

 fair enough, not paid attention to their scores this season and only remembering last season, which was basically just teams stupid enough to trying and out possession ball us (Southampton)

the use of pragmatism to mean "plays like a league two side at old Trafford in the cup" is one of the most annoying linguistic aspects of football tbh. as you say, this is absolutely dogmatic about shit football
