Based on what?

His time at PSV and Man U.

He's hungry, up and coming with something to prove. His coaching sessions at United were reported to be very good and also the work with their strikers in training was highly praised.

I don't want anyone likes Moyes, Potter has already turned us down and been out of the game too long now.

Enzo was brave appointment and worked very well. I think RVN will be the same.

I’m sick reading about how unlucky Cooper has been to get sacked. His whole CV looks so much better in black and white than what it really is. He was ludicrously lucky to get Forest promoted. The sort of luck you dream of. Then Forest broke records on spending money. No promoted team has ever spent so much. They should have easily stayed up that first season and was no major achievement with the squad he had. Now he’s gone they’ve moved up two levels. Then this season with us he’s been awful. Two very lucky wins. Last minute winner and equaliser. Probably at fault for the Palace draw where we should have won. Yet people saying he’s done well. We could so easily be below Southampton. He would not have got us to thirty points.

Whilst his time here was shit, attempting to underplay what he did to get them promoted and then making out that their ludicrous scattergun transfer plan (which was totally ridiculed on here, and they were expected to go down) was a really good thing is a bit laughable.

When was the last time we hired a manager with NO PL experience? KP don't play that game.

Time to do it then.

Schmidt, Conceicao, Hjulmand and Kovac all available.

Why not?

Because our board will appoint somebody with PL experience - and I don’t blame them.

For every Hurzeler there’s a Glasner.

Glasner who’s widely regarded as doing very well at Palace and who’s turning their season around despite key players leaving? 👀

So reckon if we had Glasner we’d be doing better than we are? I can’t see it.

Oh. If that wasn't the point you were making, then your use of the phrase 'didn't he get the sack?' was a bit misleading.

Apologies. I'll rephrase. "Didn't he leave because he didn't get on with the players and his coaches who went as far as going to the board to complain about him"

Talking rubbish. They haven't seen the decline in the performances since Cooper came. He was clueless. Blaming refs etc. Desperate tactics from him. Sitting back in games and hoping to nick a win.

This was always going to be the case with the media, just so many chancers around who will just trope out the standard football party lines without digging deeper into it.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but aside from cooper just being horrendously out of his depth, no one is mentioning the fact he was only appointed because anyone "good" thought we were getting a points deduction he threw himself at us because he knew no premier league team would go near him, it was just a very specific situation that lead to it. Mixed in with he'd lost the dressing room already, so even if you objectively thought he was doing well, we all know when the players turn its game over so it doesn't matter. Sure you can look at the players and criticise them, but dig deeper 🤷‍♀️

anybody listening on talksport? they don't have a clue

Yeah thought Simon would’ve understood more. Basically Jim saying how we are where we are and that’s good enough. They don’t seem to comprehend that we sacked cooper due to his performances and the fact that if we continue this way we will go down. The fact we stuck so long with Rodgers and went down should be justification enough to make the call with Cooper.

I don't know. I have read the rumours that he fell out with some of the players. I've also read that he quit because key players had been sold from under his nose and he hadn't been given reassurances about how they'd be replaced. I'm not sure what the full truth is, and I'm not sure anybody does.

I honestly believe that the new manager has already agreed to take the job, and probably had informally before they booted Cooper out.

If you're right, we'll find out today. If it drags on into tomorrow and beyond, we'll know they hadn't reached an agreement with anybody beforehand.

I thought that when we sacked Rodgers but it we then proceeded to flirt with Marsch, Benitez and then Smith. This is a reactive football club.

The outsiders have no idea what's been going on. They are lay people making random judgements. We have observed Cooper's consistent ineptitude and rudderless regime for months now. We know this call whilst seemingly harsh on paper. Was sadly what needed to happen asap.

No - it was clear with Rodgers they had no one lined up which is why they waited until i think he literally pleaded with them to do it. I think they thought till the bitter end that he would save it.

With this, i think they have done it because they are > 80% they have their man, and they probably thought that sacking Cooper would show that person our commitment to him, and that if we didn't act now we could lose him.

Whilst ridiculed, their scattergun approach has landed them with a solid base of highly valued players, with a current squad valued at over €425m

Their net spend was €41m for the first season and a second season net spend of €19m so far.

Clearly the chairmen has more business nous than many suspected.

At the halfway point of the season, our net spend is €51m and so far has arguably been quite underwhelming.

I agree but I think the timing of the Cooper sacking feels a lot like we've just got the thumbs up from someone on the short list.

That or, as said before, the players have just forced their hand.
