It's infuriating. Yes the midfield is non existent too but they can't seriously call themselves defenders. No marking or positional awareness between them. Would love to sack off the lot of them

Two goals appeared to come from the same move where the goal scorer runs in unmarked while the assist is being closed down by 4 players.

With Mads we draw that game, it was such a shame he was injured at half time. Our back ups players are f**king shite, we still have a lot of deadwood we need to get rid off.

No we don’t lol Agree our backups are very poor, the drop in quality especially in goal and a bit in midfield is poor.

We were only 1 down at half time, we could have drawn that game if Mads was fit.

Not in my opinion, it’s not like we not utterly under the cosh first half.

Just watching the highlights ffs where was the defence they left so much space for Newcastle to Exploit our wings Choudary wasted so many passes giving the ball away, hope Mads isn’t out for too long or we’ll be having the most goals against us with Ward in goal and defensive nightmares like yesterday?

Things started to look great under the new RVN era it’s going to be a tough time if Top doesn’t give him a decent Transfer budget for January, a time too where I can see RVN ship out the deadwood we still have that should have gone ages ago but really hoping RVN can sort what we still have till then as it won’t get any better over the coming weeks with the teams we’re about to play !

What do you expect? There was no defensive midfield.

Newcastle major strength is their midfield…… it’s as good as any in the league. We turn up with two pub team midfielders, it’s never going to end well.

It’s only Ruud’s third game in charge….. hopefully he sees this and realises he can’t adopt the same tactics away from home…. But he really wasn’t helped having to play Skipp and Hamza, I would have even felt sorry for Cooper if that’s all he had to play.

As with anything, you keep stripping the cupboards and fail to invest, eventually you are only going to be left with the shite to serve up. Our squad is NOWHERE near good enough for this league. We are scraping the barrell with our first teamers, nevermind their understudies.

Still playing Danny Ward, in the Premier League, when it’s nearly 2025.

Still relying, for the most part, on the defensive players that got us relegated.

Giving Hamza Choudhury a new contract.

Giving Jannick Vestergaard a new contract.

Signing Oliver Skipp for £25M.

These aren’t the only reasons we got well beat yesterday, but they played a big part. We are swimming against a heavy tide when these are the kinds of decisions that the club continues to make.

We will continue to be held back by the decisions of the last three/ four years. We can still find the odd gem but the squad is dragged down by the mediocrity just below the first team.

I agree and it’s their Physicality that they have that makes them so competitive in that area. Guimaraes and Joelinton against Skipp and Hamza says it all really! With a fit Wilf and Soumare you have half a chance, but when Hamza can’t find a blue shirt and we kept losing possession no wonder they overran us as they need no encouragement to step onto you.

Then add Danny ‘dad dive’ into the mix. That’s a massive difference, Mads and Kasper before him kept us in games with crucial saves at important times, and they both berate and organise the defence. He is a career back up keeper for a reason.

Love how Ward is being used as a scapegoat by many.  Truly, the whole team should hang their heads in shame for that woeful, abject performance.  Runners not being tracked at all, Midfield non existant when we did get the ball Choudary passed straight to their players.  Justin and Christiansen collectively have to be the worst set of fullbacks in the league.  Neither, are good enough.  Out of position all the time, poor, defensively.

Mcateer and Khanouss too lightweight at this level.  Albeit, there is potential in Khanouss as he is only young.  Mcateer Championship at best.

We have a winger in Mavididi last season good.  This, awful, attitude seems wrong.  Never wants to even try to take his fullback on passes backwards all the time what has happened to him?

As for the so called set piece coach.  Where do I start.  We haven't a clue set pieces are woeful.  We can't beat the first man when we take a corner.  We get free kicks in  promising positions and they are completely wasted.  When we get a chance to shoot we pass backwards.

We are very poor at this level.  Ruud needs to be a miracle worker to turn this around.

Hamza was atrocious, forget his awful passing but he was sat so deep he was almost on Coadys feet, offered zero pressure to their midfield.

JJ poor for one of the goals again, and Vesty just isn't PL level, he looks awful the minute someone turns and runs at him.

This is nothing to do with the managers fault it's down to the team and the players now. There's a lot of players that need to be gone that performing at all and hopefully in January we will get three to four decent new player. What was Danny Ward doing?

The team needs a few new signings but you can't have 5-6 new player and expect them to start and hit the ground running  in the middle of the season. Hopefully the manager's sees the next two game as the last test to determine 2-3 positions that need improvement in Jan. Changing half the team won't work imo

This photo sums up how we defend. Our WHOLE team is in the box, no-one covers three Newcastle players at the far post: GOAL. My son's U17 team knows better than that.

Atrocious defending. It shows we have no idea.

How did Ward keep the No. 1 shirt these 2 seasons by the way?

Shirt numbers don't mean much any more, they don't tend to change a lot except for player preference, and I think Hermansen prefers number 30.
