Max is just a special, special talent.

Yep! Love him or hate him, he’s just so consistent - he’s so good.

Yep, I've been in a weird spot over the last few years, I'm a big Hamilton fan and loved the straight talking approach of Toto Wolff and his role in building Mercedes into serial winners, but I also really like Max, and also like Christian Horner for the work he's done with RB and the sheer amount that they have done for the drivers in the sport. Horners 1 on 1 interview for the Cambridge Union a few years ago was fantastic, it's been a strange few seasons after '21 with the fans being at eachothers throats and media whipping up the hatred so I'm glad to see things settling more and we can just appreciate how good Lewis is on his day and how fast Max is consistently in the last few seasons.

I'm guessing it's not that easy to overtake around this track? Even so its a good looking grid, will be interesting to see how many places Lando can make, I don't think he'll get much further than 5th or 6th tbh

It should be easier than Suzuka. For starters, there are more DRS zones. I expect Piastri to win but you can never discount Max. McLaren’s race trim is good, so Norris should get to at least 4th, but he made a meal of overtaking last week so let’s see how he gets on. Certainly not unrealistic to see him slip to 3rd in the standings after this GP.

I can see McLaren making Piastri their number 1 driver after a couple more races.

I called it last year that they backed the wrong horse in Norris. There's something about Piastri, he's ice cold and makes few mistakes. Doesn't seem to be fazed by anything.

Will be difficult for the team to manage but that's what I can see happening.

Yeah, it feels like Piastri has a bit of an edge in terms of mental toughness. You always feel Norris has a mistake in him, especially so when the pressure is on.

I'm a big fan of Piastri, I think he's been really impressive since he's stepped up to F1. I know last year he seemed to have the race pace to equal Lando, but Lando always seemed to out qualify him, whereas it looks like that's changed this year - or it's a lot more competitive at least. As you say, he seems ice cold and he's just incredibly likeable I think, which makes him pretty easy to root for.

How long do we give Hamilton in a new Ferrari to find his groove before removing the benefit of the doubt and saying he's just not as fast as he was?

I'd really like Hamilton to win one more Championship - I think he deserves / possibly is owed that but he dropped off the pace last year and fell out of sync with the Mercedes and now it seems to be the same deal in red.

Ferrari haven’t won a drivers title since 2007, they’re just not that good of a team.

Yeah, Hamilton is a weird one really. I mean, I get it, it's difficult to turn down Ferrari, especially at his age and he didn't have the best last couple of years at Mercedes, but Mercedes are also looking good this year, and that will likely carry over into next year with the new regulations etc. So maybe his best chance of getting another World Championship would've been to have actually stayed at Merc...

Hamilton is just like Alonso nowadays. Can perform if the car is exactly to his liking and has decent overall pace, but otherwise they struggle to get it to overperform.

Piastri showing that he is prepared to hold in there vs Verstappen is an important box ticked. Easier said than done but it seems like that is the only way to get his respect.

Disappointing season so far after all the hype. Apart from the wet race in Australia they've all been a bit of a procession. No battles for the lead.

McLarens just been too strong  ( well Norris would be second if he didn’t mess  up ) apart from Verstappen pulling a performance or two out the bag .

Mercedes are doing well but Ferrari been disappointed.

And he wonders why he gets booed at the London preseason booze up event.

Idiot.

Nobody has ever radiated head boy/hall monitor energy as much as Horner.
