NJFox Posted 17 February 2025 Posted 17 February 2025 Curious for our one of our GTA FoxesTalk members to chime in about the weather. Amazing that everyone came off the plane alive.

Amazing that everyone came off the plane alive. I live 20 minutes drive down the 401 from Pearson. Planes fly over our house as it lines up with the runway approach and it's so odd to not hear/see them. I see blue skies outside, some clouds. We had a crazy snow storm this past weekend. The wind today has been intense, snow blowing all over the place. My kitchen exhaust fan won't stfu. Glad everyone survived! Edited 17 February 2025 by Jattdogg

Jattdogg Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 Contains swearing. Video of a passenger as he exits the plane cursing and in disbelief. https://www.instagram.com/p/DGMEswSp9Vk/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=embed_video_watch_again
Sly Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 It’s crazy that the plane hasn’t broken up when tipping over. I’ve never seen anything like that. It is a minor miracle that everyone is still alive. It feels like we are having a lot more aeroplane accidents this year.

Sly Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 I’m going to guess and say that the amount of snow on the ground has actually stopped this being a more tragic accident. Looking at that video, whilst it’s been filmed on a potato, it looks like it’s tried to land, then rolled? Has the cold conditions, then slid it down the runway, cooling it down, flipping it over? Difficult to tell from that video.

And is that 4 commercial ones already? The one with suspicious circumstances around Russia, was it in Kazahkstan? The Korean one. Washington DC and now this. And that’s just bigger commercial ones, obviously smaller ones like that one in Philly a couple of days after the DC one. Not wanting to make me air travel any time soon to be fair!

BKLFox Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 1 hour ago, Jattdogg said: that looks like a heavy landing with landing gear collapsing directly on impact as flames appear almost instantly, right wing then comes down, slides along ground (probably hits something) snaps off, left is now top heavy & no stability on right which then causes the roll?
Lionator Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 Zelensky throwing a strop probably isn’t going to convince Trump that restoring relations with Russia is a bad thing. He needs to play the cool and patient game.

He has a personal vendetta against Ukraine due to him being impeached for coercion and the imminent removal of sanctions on Russia, which will provide them massive increase in wealth for their war industry, and the likely complete cessation of military aid to Ukraine by the US is game over for them. Hard to be cool and patient when your enemy who's objective is the complete destruction of your state and your most influential "ally" are signing your death sentence in Saudi Arabia. 9

Trump is not going to be convinced about anything he’s been extremely open about his “America first” and lack of support for Ukraine ideals from the off, this is what he said would happen and that everyone knew would happen. This kind of spin is depressing Said on here in early January that I give til February until Trump starts claiming Zelensky is the villain for not signing some peace treaty. Still thinks it looks likely Edited 18 February 2025 by Sampson 10

Still thinks it looks likely Well Trump is seemingly making the victim of aggression pay reparations for having the temerity of wanting to be a sovereign nation, more so than what was imposed on Germany after WW1 if what I have read about the deal presented to Zelensky for 50% of Ukraine’s resources is true. Burnt rapidly through any goodwill from the support given before. I don’t see anyone foolish enough to trust the US in the near to medium future. Shame Europe don’t seem able or in some cases willing to step up which will no doubt come back to bite us.

That might give the bigger fish at least a moments pause before trying to throw their weight around too much. And to think I advocated for the UK to give up theirs around a decade ago because I never thought the US and Russia would become ideologically aligned in the cause of strongman repressive autocracy. How wrong I was there. Edited 18 February 2025 by leicsmac 1

I'm curious to know exactly what they could have done more that would have stopped the current situation occurring, short of being much more effective at neutralising Trump. 1
LCFCCHRIS Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 Amazing speech that sums up my feelings on the current state of the US. Democrats need to get their heads screwed on and get back on track. Alienating most of their potential voters was always a losing strategy. Yes you can support minorities but you’ve also got to show your majority that you care.

Sly Posted 18 February 2025 Posted 18 February 2025 Trumps way of stopping the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is basically to cut funding and force Ukraine to concede defeat. It very much feels like it is one bully in Trump, supporting another bully in Putin to win. Do we foresee the collapse of NATO under Trump this time? Historically the British have a lot of blood on their hands in terms of how we generated the British empire, or even back to the crusades even. However in a modern world, which should be forward thinking, It may be a bit extreme, however I’m not sure we should be partnered or associated with any nation that won’t stand up for justice. He’s becoming more like a Dictator himself, with his irrational threats of taking Greenland, Panama, Canada, Mexico etc. It’s a shame Europe can’t stand on its own toe feet and cut off imports from the states to push back to his tactics. This is one of the challenges of the UK largely becoming a warehouse state. We rely so much on others now. 2

Regardless we need to lead the way as Poland have and increase defence spending to 4% minimum imo. It will be tough but not as tough as having to come good on our article 5 promises when Putin or similar tries again somewhere else.
