I also wonder if this is Trump’s way of forcing Europe to up its defence spending.

Regardless we need to lead the way as Poland have and increase defence spending to 4% minimum imo. It will be tough but not as tough as having to come good on our article 5 promises when Putin or similar tries again somewhere else.

I agree. We need to review how we operate altogether to allow this.

Unfortunately, whilst London is a financial powerhouse, the rest of the country is built on distribution centres.

It’s crazy to think that we have allowed business from other nations like Amazon, Meta, Cisco, Alphabet (Google), Adobe, Microsoft and Apple to avoid paying UK taxes and they now thrive with massive profits. Those billions of pounds could be utilised.

We almost need to flip the world back on its head and maybe have a united approach with Europe. The world is a smaller place and as an island it is going to be difficult to survive in a fight if we are isolated on an island.

We almost need to agree how we move forward as a borderless United States of Europe / EU (I know this will upset the right, as they still think we should shoot the rubber dinghies that are crossing the channel).

We could do with agreeing strategic partnerships with other European based countries with manufacturing, food, energy, technology and pharmaceutical products at its heart.

Our challenge will be raw materials or such things as oil, fuel etc, however we need to find alternative ways forward as a combined effort.

This will of course require people to stop the duck swinging contest and have strategic conversations on a united effort to improve and become self sufficient.

Maybe somewhat idealistic, however can you trust our neighbours over the pond, or the impending treat of Russia squeezing us from the East?

The other challenge is finding someone or a group of people competent in running everything in an efficient fashion!

I’d be interested to know what people make of that. It looks like the pilot just didn’t pull up in time.

Could be windshear.

“Throwing a strop”?! He’s having his entire country being sold down the road. Trump is not going to be convinced about anything he’s been extremely open about his “America first” and lack of support for Ukraine ideals from the off, this is what he said would happen and that everyone knew would happen. This kind of spin is depressing

Said on here in early January that I give til February until Trump starts claiming Zelensky is the villain for not signing some peace treaty. Still thinks it looks likely

He's already cast him as the villain - 'he's had three years' 'you could have made a deal'.

Inflation back up then. Highest in 10 months.

They’ll be putting interest rates back up!

Apparently, Ukraine should "never have started" being invaded by Russia.

Well...that's certainly an interesting way of seeing it.

What were they thinking of, leaving their border unpatrolled?! They were basically gagging for it!

The obviously should have rolled over and just let Russia cherry pick what areas it wanted.

I wonder if Putin had decided to undertake his “special military operation” in Alaska, would the Orange 🍊 have the same approach?

Well, considering the kompramat Putin is thought to have on him, I would say likely yes.

It’s crazy that anyone looking or listening to him voted for him twice let alone once. Second time knowing how much of a horrible c*** he is and still thought yeah he will sort everything out.

Poor old Tommeh is having a rough time in solitary.

I mean... He quite literally requested that he go in solitary confinement but that's not the point. He shouldn't even be in jail in the first place.

I mean... He quite literally pleaded guilty to his crime despite taking hundreds of thousands in donations for his legal defence, but that's not the point. He shouldn't even have been on trial in the first place.

I mean... He was only on trial because a judge explicitly told him he would be on trial if he screened a film repeating his baseless lies against a Syrian child refugee,  but that's not the point.

I guess what I'm getting at is that Tommy Robinson is a ****ing idiot and deserves everything he's getting.

Calls on world leaders and tags Elmo Musk....

If nothing before, January 6th 2021 should have been the deal breaker.

It's rather remarkable how so many people have managed to manipulate their denial of a violent insurrection attempt.

The bigger issue is now that there's a similar coup attempt happening much more silently in the bureaucracy - and, so far, much more successfully.

And talking of which, the other renowned far right (ex) presidential freak (although there are depressingly many to choose from), Jair Bolsonaro is facing charges for an alleged coup plot and incitement amongst his supporters to riot in order to seize back power in Brazil after losing the election. I wonder where on Earth he got that idea from?

I wonder.

I fear that all of this is going to lead to blood. And a lot of it.

It comes down to the base principle of self interest.

"The president is not our teacher, our tutor, our guide or ruler. He does not command us; we command him. We serve neither him nor his vision. It is not his job or his prerogative to redefine custom, law, and beliefs; to appropriate industries; to seize the country, as it were, by the shoulders or by the throat so as to impose by force of theatrical charisma his justice upon 300 million others. It is neither his job nor his prerogative to shift the power of decision away from them, and to him and the acolytes of his choosing." - Mike Pence

... it's just a shame you didn't arrive at this conclusion before the horse had bolted and then incited its followers to kill you, isn't it, Mr Pence?

It always astonishes me how the intelligence services have a diabolical, surreptitious masterplan to rule and subjugate the world, yet simultaneously are unable to outwit Donald Trump.
