Hats off to her.  For a women who is absolutely garbage is making more money from speeches than 90% of the UK population is some doing.

Another Nazi salute I see. Though it's probably just an awkward gesture from someone responding to legitimate economic concerns of workers left behind by neoliberal capitalism, and nothing to be worried about.

Is that Bannon’s?

I mean honestly I’m surprised the guy doesn’t already walk in goose steps.

Nazi salutes are crazy , a year ago if you’d said the American administration was doing Nazi salutes and looks like it’s being controlled by the Russians you would probably say it sounds like a made up sci fi film.
Imagine if Trump had acted like this before the election, everyone must realise they were biting there tongue waiting to get in before releasing all this bile.

...I wonder what any of our esteemed members who were totally OK with Trump winning the election (and there are quite a few, if I remember right) think of his first month or so running the show?

Would be interesting to hear any grounded perspective on that score.

I’ll say one thing for him: The risk of nukes being used in the Ukraine conflict has dropped to virtually zero.

Also, when we become the 52nd state (along with Canada), we’ll be under the American nuclear umbrella and together we’ll be able to vote a Democrat win over the line in 2028. If there are elections. And if those elections are unrigged. But let’s be positive.

If you've seen the plans for the Postal Service that has a critical impact on voting through postal votes, you'd be worried about that.

Wonderful. Don’t agree with some things but generally so glad to see common sense and leadership. Hopefully Germany and France follow and the rest of Europe wakes up. Doubtful though with ‘ democratic’ 🙄Europe not allowing free elections.

Won’t say anymore because I’ll probably get banned again for saying ‘ the wrong thing which doesn’t fit the narrative in this echo chamber forum ‘

Well, I wouldn't have minded seeing something a little meatier in terms of takes on specific policy and what the future will actually look like under this kind of governance, but appreciate the input.

Her Dad taught me maths at Uni. With hindsight I’m glad I failed his course as some form of protest on the family!

Actually taking steps to end 2 awful wars which Biden did absolutely nothing to stop. Explaining previous US governments actively pushed Ukraine into this madness with false promises of NATO membership which was promised would NEVER happen to Russia.

Trying to end this disastrous illegal migration which is destabilising countries all across the globe.

Ending woke madness etc

Also reading this forum lately about the Ukraine war the lack of knowledge is staggering. I think the vast majority on here  had never even heard of Ukraine 4 years ago. Had absolutely no idea about how right wing and corrupt it is and probably wouldn’t find it on a map if their life depended on it.! But all of a sudden everyone is an expert only by watching MSM.
You are one of very few I’d bother engaging with!

Never going to happen,  we have Celine Dion. She will come back home and play her music at the whole border via megaphone link to a forever cycle of her greatest hits.

American Troops will go AWOL!

Bungy is right to be fair, when I first heard Russia was invading I thought Putin was trying to steal all of our cranes for a building project.

Appreciate the elaboration regarding foreign policy.

Perhaps when that's done with Trump might turn his attention to the ongoing decrease in planetary biodiversity due to (among other things) habitat destruction, physical pollution and sheer amount of human activity, because without that all of this is rather pointless?

There seems to be, shall we say, a hyperfocus on threats posed by other humans from the current administration (tbf that's not unique to them) which are usually a matter of some debate, but what plans do they have to deal with more natural threats caused either by human activity or otherwise? Ignoring them isn't going to make them go away, and they will cause trouble both in their own right and from causing conflict through diminishing resources.

If the current US government really cares about its people, it would consider it a priority and act accordingly, considering we rely on the Earth staying reasonably stable so that every other human matter can happen.

Me to! Though I dropped the module before being able to fail it 😂

He’s staunchly left wing and even then (~10 years ago) he apparently had very little to do with her due to her politics.

The same Trump that couldn't have cared less about peace in Ukraine whilst he was first in office, and it had a less significant capacity for impact on his Presidential campaign.

Consistently buddying up with Putin during his first term, whilst undermining NATO and withholding military funding during Putin's increased aggression in the region. That last part, all to bolster his personal political movement against opposition at the potential cost of life elsewhere.

He'll take centre stage in the talks, considering he's got not chance of avoiding it this time round, but we can be pretty confident his priorities don't lie with achieving a constructive lasting peace across the "big, beautiful ocean".
