One thing that strikes me about the difference young people face is that they spend more time within their own peer groups and the pressures that brings particularly via social media. I was lucky that I had good adult role models. Parents, older brother at home. Also into full adult work at 16 mixing with not just young workmates but older people too. These were positive influences.

He has always been a top guy, I met him a few times through a Villa contact.  I really wanted him to succeed as England coach.......

I’m not an economist but the whole system is broken imo. 

I was thinking of Remploy, and looking back my recollection was slightly wrong - they were subsidized for many years until the Blair government pulled the plug.  They tried to keep their direct factory employment open but failed.  Now owned by some American mob as a servide that places disabled people in mainstream employment.

I hope that he continues to do advocacy work in that area. Goodness knows that in this era it's needed. There's a generation or more of young lads at risk of backsliding into knuckle-dragging attitudes towards women, and that's consequential.

My daughter who I've spoken about several times, is eligible for the full PIP because of her MH illness. She can function reasonably well until some crisis causes severe anxiety and triggers her bi-polar disorder.

 

She was re-assessed for PIP and, despite her obvious issues, her claim was declined, despite supporting evidence from her Psychiatrist. She went into meltdown as a result and we struggled to keep her safe.

 

We appealed and the decision was overturned before the hearing took place. We now have been accepted as her proxy so we can complete assessments on her behalf and accompany her to any further reviews

 

It's shitshow, and the proposed reforms will almost certainly cause some to take their own lives as a result.

Indeed, you can argue those that can navigate the system are disproportionately those that are less likely to need PIP in a sense. The most vulnerable find it incredibly difficult and are shamed by the whole welfare system. I hope yourselves and your daughter can get what you need.

Enough of the population in enough places wanted Project 2025 and aggressive acts towards friendly nations, so that's what folks are getting. Trump was certainly clear enough on what he intended.
