There is so much leverage in just paying a director of football good money.

 

Clubs will spend tens of thousands of pounds a week on back up players. Smithies probably cleared a million in his season here but baulk at the idea of paying backroom staff properly. The director of football is arguably the most important long term role at a club and they probably get paid a few hundred thousand a year.

 

Ironically, for the right director of football the Leicester job would be great because you have too much autonomy. Any semi-competent director of football from Braga, Feyenoord, Union SG etc type clubs would be a big step up for us.

 

Everything I hear down the grapevine about Rudkin is that he seems to think he's some sort of administrator rather than strategic drive behind the club. What's happened to us makes sense.

I genuinely guarantee there’s a lack of awareness for his longevity and importance to the club, but we’re playing poor now, and we need someone to blame. 
 

RVN can’t possibly be an issue with his 2 wins in 10, our defenders allowing a ball to bounce and being 1-0 down in 10 seconds are blameless too. 
 

Rinse and repeat whenever it’s poor, but when it’s good, it’s always the manager and players

 

Oh, and I’ve heard every single backlash to this comment, 500 times over. You’re still going to be wrong 👍

Your 5??

1) Step down in terms of his own career

2) Dealing with an owner who doesn't have a tangible vision for the club

3) The club are hamstrung by PSR and large legacy contracts AND even if he was appointed it would take a number of years to make an influence

4) His track record of taking clubs and improving them (bar Man Utd) what levers can he pull here?

5) He's way out our budget
