Him being worse than Anthony Gordon is the only issue he has. I would have him back here in a heartbeat for the price.

They’re a few Chelsea and United fans. Not been to Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford so not sure - it was more about speed and the staff they couldn’t believe how slow things were.

Nah. He was still crap. Scored hardly any goals and basically just stood upfront, waved his arms, gave away free kicks and knocked the ball on from hoofs (mainly to the opposition). Was damn good in the Cardiff 2nd leg though, il give him that.

I'm still very fond of Brendan despite what everyone says. Should have been sacked sooner? 100% but the football we played from 2019 to 2021 was the best I've ever seen and I'd be shocked if we ever get close to that ever again.

 

We could out-play anyone in the country with insane football and it felt like we were genuinely one of the best teams with some borderline world class players. Ricardo was up there as one of the best RBs with Trent. Soyuncu in the PFA team of the year. Prime Ndidi. Vardy adapted his game and showed why he's one of the best PL strikers ever. I enjoyed this period a lot despite the heartbreak of missing top four twice. 

 

I think the incompetence of the board and false promises to subsequent managers show he wasn't the main problem. Was he part of it? Did he make mistakes? Of course.

Brendan Rodgers with a proper director of football/sporting director and management of money would have seen us top 10 consistently since 2022/23. He’s never been a bad manager he’s just arrogant. 
 

The problem was (in hindsight) he asked for too much, was allowed to do it with Congerton, the club handed out big wages to enable what they wanted and then when 2022 summer come around they had all done too much damage collectively to go back on it. 
 

Someone in that board room in summer 2021 needed to stand up and say ‘we’ve had two good attempts at top 4, we’ve won the FA Cup, we need to look at the finances now and reset to go again’. Sell one or a selection of Tielemans, Maddison, Soyuncu, Ndidi and get the next crop through to build around Barnes.
 

Instead Rodgers, Top and co. all decided to gamble and it went terribly wrong. Seems like they made decisions on emotion rather than practicality, like we did between 2017-19 that had got us to that point in the first place.

That is true - in that sense our canteen staff are a true representative of our wonderful team of nopace merchants - Vesty, Faes, Podcast Coady, BDCR and Ayew.

I don’t care for Will Alves, don’t think he’s looked anything special since his injury and in pre season or his little cameos he’s had there’s been nothing to write home about

I like these threads. They often aren't unpopular opinions but it does always seem to deliver some quite niche shouts and topics.

 

Mine is that Kante was good.

1. We need to convert to a low block/sh!thouse style and counter with both Vardy and Daka on the pitch.

 

2. None of our defenders actually enjoy defending. They all want to be involved in attacks, and defending is an inconvenience to them.

 

3. Top misleads managers about the amount of money available, and allows them to go scouting and approach players when there was never a chance of signing them.

 

4. Enzo would probably have taken us down too.

One of my opinions, that always gets challenged, is that Matty James is one of our most overrated players. Classic case of his stock rising when not in the team.

 

Matt Jones was exactly the same from another era… but I guess my alternative opinion proves the point of the thread

Barnes got regularly slaughtered  on here, v often id read , if only he had a brain, if only he could shoot.

For some he wasn't appreciated until he'd  gone
