Carsley lives in Kenilworth so location wise its perfect for him. But im not sold on Carsley. Its difficult to assess a manager in under 21s level.

 

When he was in caretaker charge of England first team, i thought he looked a little out of his depth in moments and i dont think he enjoyed the experience.

Got shot down last time we was linked but personally I like his style of football. Free flowing attacking football, with a high press.

 

He Knows how to win when the odds are against him and he likes to play with plenty of movement from players in the final third which I think we are desperate for.

Carsley journey so far reminds me of NP before he joined us. If I remember rightly he had a number of caretaker jobs and worked with the England under 21 team before he kept Southampton up then we were lucky enough to be his first real long term job.

 

I'm up for Carsley joining, we don't have much money, we are going to have to focus on developing young players, he does this, 

 

He plays a exciting brand of football it seems, something we all want.

 

If he can get us defending well then we might have struck gold again.

I don’t agree with this. It’s the same thinking that says Ranieri just copied what Pearson did. Completely wrong.

We brought in a relatively untried manager, changed the style of play and had to rebuild quite extensively - new keeper, RB in a different role, on loan LB, CB brought back in from two years of being frozen out, new CM plus Ndidi in a completely different role, new wingers both sides (and both brought in from abroad). Our only continuity was Vardy and KDH. It’s complete BS when people say we steamrollered the Championship with a Premier League team (and this season has shown that it wasn’t a PL team). 
 

What we need is exactly what Maresca gave us - someone who can come in with the courage of their convictions to bring in players to suit a system and be ruthless with those who don’t. Cooper was a dreadful decision because he didn’t have the strength of character to build his own team or identity; RVN just seems like he has not been bothered or has no clue what to do. 
 

We are not doomed to years in the wilderness or nailed on to go up, but it’s in our hands with the new managerial decision.

Carsley would be a big risk in my opinion. One we don’t need to take at this important crossroad. 
 

A great coach, but we need an experienced day to day manager that will oversee things on and off the pitch.

Richie Wellens for me, has served his apprenticeship in the lower leagues and done a cracking job with Orient, getting promoted from league 2 and now in the league 1 play off places and plays decent football.

Not sold on Carsley but would 100% take him if it meant the back of RVN. At least Carsley has a modicum of understanding and interest in the game.

Liam Manning for me, still likes his team to have a lot of the ball but will want us to go and press. Has been working on developing as a coach since his playing days were done at Ipswich and has spent a lot of time working within youth development. He hasn't achieved anything as such with regards to promotion but I feel like he's worth the chance with where we are. As others have said in other threads, if it does take us a few years let's build some foundations.

Smart *decent" managers will see the potential in our younger players and the pros within this squad and work from there.

Smart / decent managers will do their homework on how the club is run, who controls what ... broken promises, transfer funds, who needs to be moved on .... and more before they even consider the job

Maybe it’s me just being negative as I have a habit of doing lol 

 

But don’t you feel more rot has set in this time around than two season’s ago? 
 

There seems to be an even bigger disconnect, from board to fans and manager to fans. 
 

Of course appointing Maresca was a crucial decision, but what we do over this summer just feels like ten times more crucial than last time. 
 

Both Leicester and Southampton look in the need for some desperate revitalisation. 
 

Can I see us dropping like a stone like Luton, of course not. 
 

But if RVN goes and we get in a manager who will split opinion from the get go, we could easily become another Norwich/Watford.

the style of play can wait. Dyche will get rid of the players who don’t want to be here and I still some fight.

Anybody is a risk of course no matter their CV. Dyche will as you say bring a disciplinary attitude. Results over style is the priority. Can work on a budget too.

Norwich have sacked Johannes Hoff Thorup

Anyone who follows them more closely than I do who can weigh in on him? They started really well but fell off dramatically. Tried to play good football, but fundamentally it was attempting good football with players not good enough for it, and he hasn't been able to adapt to the squad he has?

He's still very young at 36 y/o too, I wouldn't be surprised if another Championship team took him on, or maybe the 2. Bundesliga.

Unfortunately he's a tactical dinosaur at a time when the best young coaches are all tactically-savvy and flexible. He might well 'change the culture', but that will only go so far if he's being outsmarted every week by more tactically intelligent managers. If we have any ambition for the future we won't touch him with a barge pole.

No thought will have gone into Lee Carsley other than he’s managed at international level as was the case with Cooper, Sven, Sousa and Ranieri. He’ll probably hate young players like Cooper knowing our luck too.

Absolutely this, he has very little experience as a manager - we need someone who can again find that hidden gem, develop youth and also handle some ego's (as no matter what I believe some of these will stay as we wont be able to offload all of them)

 

I just don't know why Dyche has not been mentioned or talked about in the media, Surely we MUST approach him and give him the option
