This was god-awful...the back passes, the complete lack of initiative, the manager who is atrocious...

This is just some despondent sh*t...all of it.

What do you think it would take for the players to be embarrassed of themselves?

Their wages to be stopped? From what I can see, it looks like the only reason they show up.

Has any team in the Prem played as bad this? I can’t think of any. I feel embarrassed to be a Fox at the mo. The Championship with this lot could also be a major car crash. Bloody hell!

Would love to see some analysis from @StriderHiryu as to why we can’t even get forward. Do we simply not have the speed or passing ability when we get turned over? Is it a coaching thing or are these players actually that bad?

Has to be a coaching and desire thing. Players can score goals we just look clueless going forward.

Xg 0.02

good night

So 50 games with that would give us a combined Xg of 1 - over the period of an entire season.

I'm no data analyst, but I'm pretty sure that means we're not very good, yes?

Positives from today:

Man City winning helps them close the gap on F*rest.

We have 1 fewer game left to endure this season.

Just thought of another positive:

We've taken another step towards ensuring relegation before we have to play F*rest away, meaning they won't get the pleasure of officially sending us down.

Every game with Ndidi & Soumare in the middle and Faes at the back will get the same results.

For the first goal did Ndidi realise which way they were attacking? His poor first touch made it look like he was about to launch towards our goal.  Thomas stutters and doesn’t help so he doesn’t leave his player but gets skinned anyway. Faes and JJ standing still while Soumare jogs slowly back to Grealish, who he could see was unmarked but put zero effort in to reach him.

2nd goal, Mads has to try and defend against Faes and Man City.

Ndidi stunk out the game, ruined everything he was involved in. Soumare offering nothing yet somehow plays every week.

Daka reminding us why he’s a crap footballer.  Skinned a player in the box then tripped over himself under no challenge.

I actually laughed out loud twice watching N’didi try to cross the ball into the box but instead he imitated someone trying to chip a golf ball out of a bunker having picked up a club for the first time…woefully inept…and don’t get me started on Soumaré!

and that’s our CM pairing in the worlds most competitive league…

I'll be doing an analysis show tomorrow on Blue Tinted Glasses.

In this game specifically:

  • Tried to out pass one of the best passing teams in Europe.
  • Wrong choice of players to play such a technical style, e.g. Ndidi trying to play out of trouble and support the attack, Daka as a 10.
  • Lack of speed on transition with the way we setup as Daka was not the furthest man forward.
  • Too open at the begining, so it was game over after 90 seconds.

At half time, Ruud put on another CDM and that made us better defensively, but it made us even more blunt in attack. When Ricardo came on, he was lively, but Man City were coasting at that point.

If you an the inferior team playing away at Man City, the blueprint is to have a compact block and defend deep, but important, have fast players and play the ball back to front quickly. The way we setup and played was naive and has been throughout Ruud's tenure here. Sadly it's pretty clear that he is a much worse manager than Cooper, as the results and performances prove.

What truly baffles me is the way we play.  We get a free kick in our half near the half way line.  Instead of putting players up towards the edge of the opponents penalty area and then pumping the ball forwards

in order to at least try and score, all we do is pass it backwards to the centreback who in turn passes it back to the keeper it's then a process of passing it sideways and backwards amongst the defenders in our final third of the pitch.

It literally is wash, recycle, rinse and repeat.

We show no attacking intent at all.  We stand off opposition defenders and let them pass at will.  There is always a huge gap from our only forward in Vardy (love the bloke but seriously, he now needs to gracefully retire). and the midfield, who also when receiving the ball instead of passing forwards turn and pass it back.

As has shown playing this way, gets us nowhere.  We are not very good at it either.

We have a number of very poor players, who unfortunately we will still be stuck with next season.  (honestly, who would want them).  As has been alluded to they are on huge wages and they would

rather run their contracts down with us than go to someone else?

Something has to give.  RVN has to go, there has to be material change for the good of the club.

Great analysis.

he needed to bench Vardy,

play Daka as the furthest forward ,

play Mavididi for his pace on the transition, play Winks as the technical deep lying midfielder (alongside N’didi),

play Ricardo for his carrying ability

instead RVN picks the same lot as last time and his assistant spends all game listening to Spotify on his AirPods

AND I’ll add that I’ve seen some folk on here saying RVN is the man to lead a promotion push. You must be sniffing glue if you think that

With the players we have, the form we have been in, and the malaise in the squad, we were always going to lose. But the game plan for this match meant we never stood a chance.

As you say after a poor performance where we got beat 3-0 at home, making zero changes to the tactics used or team selection says eveything you need to know. Ruud isn't even trying, and hasn't been for some time.

Remember the Plymouth game away last season where the co-commentator said about Daka “he doesn’t look like a footballer to me”. Yet now he’s playing in the Premier League. Laughable isn’t it.

The fact the majority of our pace was on the bench….. hideous.
