Mark Wallington think he never missed a game for about 3years might be wrong.

Wallington was first class and all he'd  do was spit in his hands , no oversized  gloves at that time.

Chris Weale if you fancied  a nice 30 yarder or any distance  really.Only saving grace he wasn't  on Wards wages.

Chris Weale was actually pretty decent in his first season here. Remember strong suggestions that Premier league clubs were looking at him in his first January transfer window. Went down hill after that though

09/10 season he was very good. 83% save rate and 16 clean sheets. Like you say though, he never approached anywhere near those levels afterwards...

Kasper the best. By a mile. His impact on the club and what we achieved is far superior to what Banks & Shilton did with the club.

Honourable mention to Tim Flowers, Kasey Keller and a bit more left field, Marton Fulop (RIP)

Worst I think everyone can agree it’ll be Ward, followed by Kalac, Pressman & Douglas.

Ricardo was an appalling keeper, perfect embodiment of the excess of the Sven era

Ward is the worst for overall damage to the club though. Ricardo was as bad, but wasn't a leading cause for not one but two relegations.

Kasper is the best we've ever had. There might actually have been an early argument for Mads if his performances under Cooper had made it beyond his injury and continued to drag us towards safety, but he's been a shadow of himself sadly.

For me the worse LCFC goalies have to be in order of crapness are

1 Colin Mackleworth

2 Carl Heyes

3 Mark Grew

4 Ricardo (not the right back lol)

5 Rab Douglas

Danny Ward is crap but not as crap as the ones above.

Kasper was very good for us. But Banks and Shilton are on a different level. Both were the best in the world at the time they played. And there were some great goalies around. Including Yashin Jennings  and Zoff

Incredible to watch. His positioning and reactions were just top drawer.

Goalkeepers over the years have made some incredible saves but the one by Banks in 1966 v Germany is a moment in footballing history

Banks save from Pele in 1970 World Cup best I’ve ever seen

Hell just thinking about Ward has enraged me to the point that I'm trying to edit my previous post with the reply button! 😄

I'm actually shocked by this thread. Both in terms of ability, value for money and harm to the club, Danny Ward is hands down and by a country mile not just the worst goalkeeper to ever play for us but the worst goalkeeper to ever play in the top tier of English football. In fact as far as I'm concerned he is the worst player to ever play for us full stop. And given I've seen Junior Lewis play for us that is an incredible feat. And yet people are seriously suggesting other keepers as worse. The idea that Ricardo who as far as I remember was mainly disliked because he punched crosses rather than caught them is worse than a guy who genuinely let's in about 2 out of every 3 on target shots he faces is madness.

Agreed - seriously there's no contest with Ward effectively sealing relegation twice with his performances for the 1st 7 months of 2022 / 2023 and then that performacne against Wolves at home - the sheer incompetence of the man was staggering.

Seriously if anyone else plays in that Wolves game we take a draw

Kalac

The ultimate psychological warfare weapon.

One look at him made an entire team shit themselves in anticipation.

GOAT sub.

I remember seeing Danny Ward vs Burton Albion and thinking this guy lacks the fundamentals to be anything but a lower league goalie. Three years later and he was the reason we went down on the pitch. Iversen, Jakupovic, maybe not Hamer but we’ve had some average keepers here in his time and they should have always started above him.
His performance against wolves was one of single handedly worse performances I have ever seen by a Leicester player. That was a really sliding doors moment- I don’t thing there’s a player who cost so much in wages and fees but also damage on the pitch, in his time at Leicester.

I remember Kalac’s first appearance for us in a ‘Family Night Football’ game for the reserves, as he’d only just received his work permit.

One of the first things he did was dribble the ball out, and he got tackled……on the halfway line.

Incredibly he got worse.

It’s Kasper Schmeichel or Gordan Banks.

Look at the honours whilst at Leicester and you’d most likely say it could go either way, depending if you rank the World Cup as a higher accolade than the Premier League. Plus Banks finished 14th in the 1966 Balon Dor.

Shiltons best years were at the Trees (Unfortunately)

Schmeichel
1 x Championship

1 x Premier League

1 x FA Cup

1 x Charity Shield

2 x Players Player of the Season

2 x Player of the Season

3 x Fans Player of the Season

2 x PFA Team of the Year

1 x Football League Team of the Decade

Banks

1 x League Cup

1 x World Cup

3 x British Home Championships

1 x FIFA Goalkeeper of the Year

14th in Balon Dor 1966

1 x FIFA All Star Team

Shilton

1 x 2nd Division (Championship)

1 x Charity Shield

Also, worst Keepers.

Ward, Ricardo, Pressman.

Kalac was pretty horrendous, albeit he went on to play for AC Milan.

Seriously Sunday League standard goalkeeper and lets face it the majority of them have an excuse of being half cut from the night before.

Shockingly bad.

Not having Ricardo as our worst keeper.  Its not his fault that we purchased him when he was totally past it.  He was a good keeper in his day.

Ward however, is shit now, and always has been.  Never has the phrase stealing a living been more apt for a footballer than him.

Kasper by far the best in terms of what he has achieved with us.  Banks didnt achieve anything with really as a club and Shilton pretty much used us as a stepping stone

Can't believe people forgetting Richard Smith's performance in goal against Oxford.

Almost certainly will be this club’s only ever WC winner .

While at the club, yes. After leaving the club N’golo Kante in 2018.
Agree that Banks, Shilton and Schmeichel probably the best. Flowers was also great. Poole not quite in that class but I’ll never forget his amazing save in the first leg of the play offs against Stoke in 1996.
