Not watch it

This thread is traditionally easily better than the actual show, as long as MTWG makes his annual appearance 🙏

Greasing up as we speak

Bring it on

Same as usual, UK will  barely get any points because the rest of Europe hate us!.

Cyprus will give Greece top marks

All the baltic and nordic states will vote for each other.

There will be demonstrations against Israel even though singing for them is a October 7th survivor.

We get barely any points because we usually send in terrible and forgettable songs. 3 years ago we sent in a good song and came 2nd. Don’t know why some British people have to play the victim card that everyone hates us because our shit songs don’t get any votes.

Our song this year is definitely better than the last 2 years though. If it has decent staging it could do alright.

Last night I enjoyed Albania and Switzerland.

I do enjoy Sweden’s but thought the sound quality was out of whack and poor compared to what I’d seen on YouTube. So hope they improve it for the final

Waste of tv licence's money, Eurovision take our money and then tell us to piss off. No longer about the best song, all politics and vote for your neighbours. Why watch us come bottom again with Nul points is beyond me. Unofficial victory of 2022! was our best hope in nearly 30 years, never been so close.

I've seen us put out some half decent songs, that don't deserve to win but certainly don't deserve to be ranked the worse on the night. The trash that some songs have won with is proper bizarre.

I think for a while in the late 90s/early 00s it got about friendly countries voting for each other, but that largely stopped being true in the 00s when they brought juries in.

If it genuinely was all about political voting and voting for your neighbours then the same country would win every year.

I’d say the stand out song usually wins, although the staging is also a big part of it.

Exactly this. It also relies heavily on a great performance on the night given they're require to sing lead vocals live. Last year we sent an established pop star in the form of Olly Alexander yet his performance on the night was atrocious, and the song was dog.

I've said for years that Spaceman is an all-time Eurovision HEATER, and Sam Ryder absolutely killed it. Right up there with the best ever performances at Eurovision. Send a great song and a brilliant performer and you'll do well.

The fact our entry barely charts every year says it all.

We need to reform the selection process to take it away from BBC suits, prepare the artists properly and compete in the semis.

2nd in a one horse race.

No Russian war against Ukraine and we'd have won it.

I blame Putin.

When I've dipped into the show in recent years and out again quite quickly it seems to be an overblown all fur coat and no knickers monstrosity.

I think it helps if you "identify" as something.

I'm going to identify as a tortoise so I can withdraw into my shell and avoid it.

BBC are too old skool, don't keep with the times. Too much about "it's about taking part what counts"... erm no it's about winning that counts and avoid humiliation.

Once it's over nobody gives a feck.

I remember reading Robbie Williams said he was a huge fan and said he would be honoured to go on some day... guess the BBC can't afford him.

I don’t think it’s “keeping up with the times” to get in a washed up pop star from the 90s who half of Europe have probably never heard of.

Haven't forgot when they asked poor Engelbert in his late 70's to perform us. Came bottom whilst the old nuns from Russia finished 2nd.

Nor me. An absolute, very very serious disgrace.

Lovely man Engelbert an legend of music for the 1960's and 70's, by 2012 I'm not sure a lot of the younger generation who watch eurovision wouldn't have clue who he was, other than old man singing a very dated song. Engelbert was never going to win a million years. BBC still didn't learn their lesson a year later they asked a 60 year old Bonnie Tyler who hadn't sang for nearly ten years to represent us. Any Cliff Richard fans? hold out hope you may see Cliff return for his third outing lol
