Retaliatory dragging of feet after we dragged ours?

Maybe they’re waiting to see how we do this season and if it looks like we might get promoted they’ll drag it out long enough to punish us when we’re back in the PL…

The sick 6 have no intention of leaving the PL and never have had. They want the PL & the SL with the SL replacing UEFAs competitions so that they can get ALL the money from and European games instead of sharing it amongst the rest of Europe via UEFA.

Unfortunately UEFA have no balls and are shit scared of these super clubs so keep pandering to them instead of calling their bluff.

Then you have FIFA who are jealous of all the money the Euro comps make and are trying to undermine them and compete with them with more and more International games and inter-continental club competitions.

Guess who suffers from this childish one upmanship domestic football with fewer games, disrupted seasons / competitions.

I wouldn’t be so sure, I think they would be willing to go and join a closed shop SL. I think the initial idea was to test the waters and see who would agree to participate. Money talks, and with the emergence of things like Liv, you can see the super rich funding a closed shop mega league for the biggest clubs in the world. Nationally I think there would be an appetite for this, as the world is becoming more accustomed to how American sports is run, I believe that this is going to become the preferred method at some point. No promotions or relegations, mega money to be won and earned, not tied into traditional rules and regs, almost like a no holds barred approach to football.

I think it will happen in our life time at some point, we will end up with domestic football and then a form of super league football, played all over the world.

Domestic football would almost become amateur in comparison.

They can do all that with a SL and still reap the benefits and riches, especially internationally of the PL. The PL is I believe the most watched league in the world there's no way they're giving that up.

Does anyone find it bizarre that Chelsea can ignore all this PSR.
Selling the hotel, women’s team to themselves? And suddenly they’re in profit!!!

It seems the Yank owned teams can’t be questioned in any way.

They're not ignoring it, infact you've said yourself they've sold assets so as not to fall foul of the rules

Do we have any money to spend on players? If so what is it roughly?

Suspected for a while we're under a self imposed spending ban to aid in our defense. Seen nothing to convince me otherwise so far this summer.

You’re not wrong, But image the amount of money a closed shop SL would generate? With all the world’s best teams and players in one place? No limitations on sponsors, wages, finances etc…. Would be interesting to see what would happen if the carrot is dangled…. I think it would run given the chance.

Mate no one has a clue. No one has a clue what our release clauses are or what we've been selling players for

I think the plan is to retain the key players, and then look again in January.

My maths suggest we needed to save approx 30% on our last PL financial accounts to avoid another breach but then you have to remember that last season, our transfers were in region of £60 million loss and we only sold Cannon in the financial year. Wage bill would go down but we actually add more senior players.

For some mad reason, we didn’t pursue selling a player over June to try and nullify that transfer loss. Either the club were paid a ridiculous sum of money by BC Game or we’ve grossly misunderstood the rules or want to challenge the rules.

Now if we reduced last years loss by 30%, then as it stands we need to find another c£15m not to breach again.

Our last Championsjip season we would have made a PSR cal of around £1.5m profit by that was supported by £72m player sales / managerial compensation. We are at best estimates £29m incoming transfer profit at the moment

I don’t think it’s as black and white as that. Reducing the wage bill was the biggest priority and we’ve done that.

Our wage will is also closer to 40m as it stands, compared to nearly 60m last time in the championship.

I think that’s why they changed the format of the European competitions and the club World Cup as they know it’s extremely unlikely it will ever happen this is the best they can get.

Also with PSR it helps them maintain there positions

I’ve allowed all that in my calculations.

I’ve allowed for the wage bill to dip from £205m in our last PL accounts to £140m last season. That projects a financial yesr loss just short of £60million

Then this years to be approximately £90m (last time Champ accounts were £105m

Being in a position where you are breaching financial fair play, having sold your decent players and invested in nobody worthwhile in several years is mind blowing.

It was mentioned when Martí was announced that we need to sell to buy

I just hope he was told around how much we need to sell before we can buy so he is at least fully aware of the situation

He has a history of falling out with those above him for not being backed, and I can definitely see it happening again if they have lied to yet another manager

Our wage bill was £107m last time in the Championship

Of course but it's instead of the CL not the PL
