Breaking news on RL!

Dan Cole is retiring.

No matter how much people want this to happen cos they love wallowing in their gloom or need reaffirmation that people who have made poor decisions in the past will never make a good one, this isn't happening.

Not saying we'll appoint someone better, but it's not RM.

Not today, at least.

I am beginning to think it's not as clearcut as folk think. Unless the severance package with RVN is taking more negotiation than anyone thought, you have to question why both it and Martin's appointment haven't taken place yet if that's the plan.

I don't give Football Insider or TalkS**te any attention.

Tier 5 sources. Joke of a radio station.

The club just don’t have a clue. Bring in someone who does.

Of course its easy to say that when we playing cardiff, rotherham and co.

This stupid obsession with slow intricate play is doing my head in at this point.

And that's where we are now. Forget the PL for now, we arent in it, and we may not be in it next year either. Teams will be sitting back against us next season so we need to play that style, our best players thrive playing that style, that's just the reality of where we're at, we arent going to play like the team of 15/16 whoever comes in

If it is Martin, I can't say I'm utterly convinced by the appointment. There have been other people mentioned that I'd have preferred (Rohl, for example), but I'll be behind him if he is appointed.

Two things I'd be interested to hear from Saints/Swans fans - how was the fitness of the players and did there appear to be a good bond between him and the squad? Did they buy into his ideas or were they like us when Potter came in? Having a team with strong mentality and sense of togetherness is something I feel like we have lacked for years.

I don't remember Potter's tenure.

Maybe going to Rangers? Would leave a question as to who might be alternative

He’s not going to rangers, using rangers to push us a long.

The one silver lining on that cloud being that if his agent has put out the Rangers story to push us along, that means we haven't fully committed to Martin yet.

I'd rather they just sacked RVN and then appointed RVN again.

That would actually be less stupid than appointing RM.

Id genuinely rather appoint Steve Cooper. Atleast we know hes actually a good Championship manager

Pretty sure it can be announced before though

It can be but with the way the club are I wouldn’t be surprised if they just dither towards something hoping it might go away. Have they acknowledged our relegation yet? Just our place in next years championship, are they ostriches?

I am finding it strange that none of the usual reliable sources are reporting this as done or even close to done. Nothing from John Percy, Rob Tanner, Fabrizio Romano or anyone.

He’s about the same as Martin just a less tippy tappy. He didn’t win automatic promotion.

Really if we want a proper promotion expert get on the phone to Warnock, Pulis, Hodgson, Allardyce, Redknapp, Pardew or someone!

It's almost as if the one constant in our squad during their time of sharing LCFC news has left....

Such a strange opinion, there was literally nothing about Cooper that was good, I honestly think he got lucky with Forest due to them signing some decent hard working players and talented flair coming through academy or on loan.

They come to the party very very late. I would likely guess that this still has a few weeks left in it.

Hold onto that, I bet they do in the next 48 hours. Martin is coming here, he was made for king power!

This is in context to someone saying they’d rather keep Ruud then Russell Martin. Im not being serious. But he took them from near the relegation zone to promotion tbf to him. Hes a better Championship manager then Russell Martin. Definetley a better Premier league one as well looking at their records
