Anyone thats a free agent. Thats the only criteria the club are after

Have the Tw@t's in charge not worked out that its probably cheaper to pay a managers release clause and get the appointment right, than the actual pay off figure when they sack yet another substandard bozo.

He’s not going to rangers, using rangers to push us a long.

Suggests then we have other options!

Is he?

3 seasons in the championship yielded 2 playoff campaigns and one promotion, I'd say that's a pretty good record!

This is in context to someone saying they’d rather keep Ruud than Russell Martin. Im not being serious. But he took them from near the relegation zone to promotion tbf to him. Hes a better Championship manager than Russell Martin. Definetley a better Premier league one as well looking at their records

If we were in the premier league, cooper is still a far better choice than Martin and that tells you everything you need to know

I want to build something sustainable. You can’t do that with someone who won’t have the tools for the next step.

Rohl might have those tools, we won’t know until he gets up. But we have all the evidence you could need that Martin’s methods don’t work at the top level with the standard of players we’d have.

No guarantee that will happen with us, but I get the point you’re making, but for me it's the extra baggage that comes with his appointment.

During both Enzo,'s and the willy puller Todger's appointments, I posted that as well as favourable results it was, and has always been about entertainment for me. It's a major reason for me attending / watching and why in Enzo's case I was relived when he went. I despise all possession based, slow, back and sideways passing fests.

With RM we are going to have to regurgitate that sh1t once again, and if quoting Southampton sources even worse and slower than Enzoball.

Then we have RM's  B-Tec Rodgers, arrogant, egotistical, rhetoric spinning BS to contend with. It made me sick when the odious dwarf was sabotaging us for his pay off. His antics, actions and backstabbing are things I dislike in people.  It angered me then and I'm not going through the above again, hence as I've posted elsewhere I won't attend or watch on TV or put money in the LCFC tills again while RM is our manager.  It's not worth my sanity and getting wound up over.

Thanks - I was talking about Steve Cooper though.

Rohl had now apparently had talks with Werder Bremen and they haven’t gone

down well! I get the feeling Rohl is difficult to deal with he’s had talks with a few clubs

if you belive the rumours. Maybe we have tried him but like everyone else been unable

to come to an agreement.

Sounds like just what we need. Someone who is asking tough questions of ownership to ensure he’s not in a similar situation to the one at his current club.

I’m not convinced he’s the answer either but certainly an exciting option. It feels like corberan all over again. It’s just frustrating that we won’t pay a few million for a manager but will then spend triple or more on someone like coady. The manager is and will always be the most important part of a team so do whatever you need to, to get the best option possible

Or maybe between him and his agent they are entertaining potential clubs left right and centre and perhaps haven’t shown that much desire and commitment towards the Leicester job and therefore we have cooled our initial interest

One thing I will say, Williamson is a superb professional and a very experienced defender... might be the first rumblings of addressing his own floors?

He's also very much obsessed with the Martin way of playing. Playing that way at Carlisle and taking some right poundings.

His MK Dons team were fun to watch as they couldn't defend but their attackers were good.

I'm not convinced he is.

Forest were a midtable Championship side with shed loads of loanees who went on a mad run and, frankly, lucked out majorly in getting promoted before they were ready. Hence the ridiculous spending in the summer of 2022 where they had to build a side more or less from scratch.

Southampton were there or thereabouts from August and only really fell away from automatic contention in the last couple of months because of the ridiculous form we and Ipswich sustained.

Very different styles, but I'd say Martin shades it as a Championship manager. Admittedly it's like the choice between being kicked in the bollocks or stepping on Lego, but one is clearly worse than the other.

Röhl has done enough to earn a move to, at least, a better Championship side than Sheffield Wednesday. It would be interesting to see what he does with a decent youth set up, better players and bigger budget. One might scoff at the thought that we can offer that, but all three are objectively true.

Agreed he also plays a style which is becoming more efficient and we have wingers ready to play it, while Martin ball goes out of date.

Danny Röhl's style of play is characterized by a high-tempo, high-intensity approach with quick transitions and a focus on counter-attacking and direct play. He utilizes a flexible tactical approach, often alternating between 3-4-2-1, 4-2-3-1, and 4-5-1 formations, adapting to the opponent. His teams aim to exploit the flanks and utilize direct play to create chances, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and work rate.

The only reservation I have is that he supposedly wants more control of the operations. The Sheffield Wednesday fans think that his signings were all duds and that his competence in building wasn’t there… but he did an excellent job with what was already in place for them.  He rubbed them the wrong way with his comments about players not being good enough when he brought half of them to the club.

Reminds me of us letting Brendan control things. Good coach but better to just stick to management

Yes, his transfer business does appear a little shoddy from Wednesday.

That said, it seems to me that managers here go to Rudkin and the scouts with a 'type' of player they want rather than specific names. Hence we signed pretty well under Maresca, who clearly wanted exciting, young technical players and horrifically under Cooper, who evidently wanted experience and lumbered us with cast-offs and wash-ups.

If Röhl wants hungry, aggressive young players who press and run all day, he'll have more scope with us than he did at Wednesday last season.

The only positive I can draw from it is that he'll make us hard to beat in the Championship. Don't let the spankings we doled out against them fool you; Southampton went 22 unbeaten at one stage. That's a positive for a side who have been extremely easy to beat this season.

They did, however, leak goals when they came up. Nine to us over two games with only one in reply and 22 more over the course of a season. Expect lots of 2-2 draws and 3-2 wins, I think. But also some absolute spankings to the better teams in the division.

Martin's teams consistently ship goals. I don't recall a team being promoted conceding 63 goals until Southampton did it.

His record really is just quite patchy. I don't expect him to be a complete calamity at this level as a general rule. But I wouldn't be surprised if he cemented our position as an average Championship side.

It's difficult to feel any optimism about this if it comes off. The only things I'm clinging to is that Marsch, Parker and Potter were all apparently done deals before we brought in Smith, Maresca and Cooper respectively. And none of the big journalist hitters like Percy, Tanner, Romano etc are even reporting interest.

I often wonder if the club deliberately release the worst case scenario so we're grateful when they appoint anyone else, only getting it the wrong way around last year of course.

I'd have taken Potter over Cooper
