I remember going to boxing day clash between Nuneaton Boro v Hinckley, 1,500 there atmosphere was electric. Boro were like 3-0 up in the first 20 minutes. Something special about festive football, sadly I never can attend leicester boxing day games as there no trains or buses.

Jesus - read the headlines and the bed wetting and you'd think the PL and broadcasters had permanently banned Boxing Day fixtures forevermore. Instead it's just a scheduling issue this year.

Sensational headloss for something so minor. Football fans really are a bunch of freaks lol

I love it, I actually look forward to boxing day more than Christmas day lol

I get it when the Saturday is a day or two after boxing day though, doesn't really make sense not to have the majority of games on the Saturday. Whichever day it is, the first footie day after Christmas is always great, few extra people will join in the pub and it's usually a good laugh.

It's crap for fans, absolute pain in the arse to get anywhere. Probably doesn't help that our boxing day record since I've been following is surely as bad as basically anyone.

True that, to be fair i'm talking as someone that traditionally has to travel a max of 15 miles if the game is away and then it's back to the pub to watch footie on TV.

Trips to Liverpool for an 8pm boxing day kick off would be much less appealing lol

Better for matchgoing fans (depending on the kick off time) as there should be public transport on the Saturday.

I don’t travel away on BD. But two home games that stand out are the Spurs one when it snowed after FT

And when we beat Citeh with a Ricardo winner

Absolutely sensational days on the p*ss

Good job theyre allowed to name a 25 man squad of senior players, use academy players and make 5 subs a game.

I hate comments like this, because you know full well that those rules are there to benefit the big clubs with 25 superstars and have already pinched all the best academy players around.

Yeah you've gotta feel sorry for these premier league teams that have far more money that 99% of clubs in the world.

Theyve all god squads paxked with players earning millions a year. Im sure they'll be fine.

Whether its 4 games in 8 days or 4 games in 4 weeks, you'll play teams of varying ability.

Nothing has changed in over a century in that regard.

They're being forced into making changes for one of their games through no fault of their own. The schedule is totally stupid and is harming the game. The spectacle is worse for paying fans too.

They've got Shelbourne and a Finnish team in that time frame. I'm sure they'll be fine with rotation.

They've got 17 games between now and the FA Cup 3rd Round.

Given that includes an international break, Palace have a game every roughly every 3.5 days.

Yeah it's a pretty mad schedule for the European teams. Can't be bothered to look at all of them but Arsenal and Chelsea have 16 games. Spurs and Liverpool have 15.

I feel like this isn't a new thing though. We could sack of European competition and that'd free the schedule up for them. Alternatively field a reserve/academy team in the League cup, if they get through, good for them they can play next round.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have world class academies and £1bn valued squads.

The quality of Palace drops off massively when they start having to include reserves/youth in their teams.

Right, I genuinely don't see what the problem is lol

I'm not even sure they're complaining, it's not like this has come as a surprise to them. It's been the same way for years.

This hasn't. When all three European competitions had six group games in groups of four, they aligned the dates. Now the Conference League starts later and has different weeks.

I guess this specific scenario hasn't, but clubs juggling Europe and domestic is hardly a new thing. The beauty of being in the conference league is that theres plenty of scope to rotate. As I mentioned. They have an Irish and Finnish team, if thats not an opportunity to rotate I don't know what is

Mind you they messed up at home last week .

Explain to me how they've rigged the 3rd round to get European clubs avoiding each other but managed a scenario where if the conference league side makes the last 8 they have a clash lol what a joke.

VAR in more spineless shite. Our defender sent off for DOGSO but the still showed a clear handball in the build up. Hit the arm below the sleeve line. Decision stands.... obviously.
