Quorn 5 - 2 Stratford

Stunning afternoon down the ‘Stotto’. Quorn carrying on their good start to life in Step 3 taking on Stratford still looking for their first points of the season.

Game sparked into life early with Zak Goodson converting a penalty inside ten minutes. A cross from Goncalves found its way inside the far post before possession lost up field both times ensured Stratfords opener and equaliser. Goodson repaired the lead at HT.

Second Half, substitutions on 60 introduced Noble into the fray and it wasn’t long before he gets the first after good work in midfield. His second kills the game and ensures Quorn take 7 points from the first 9.

Both about the same level. Playing them this weekend.

Quorn have tricky opposition. Shepshed difficult to say. Harborough should see off Leek.

Have to admit I'm quite enjoying life in Step 5 with Grantham, another win, 1-0 v Melton thanks to a late, late header from skipper Nathan Stainfield. Didn't play particularly well, not much in the game but great to see a few wins after 7 mainly miserable seasons since the playoff final in the Northern Premier League. What has also impressed me is the attendances, 393 today, we never really got over 300 in our last season at Step 3 (2021-22).

That's an excellent crowd for step 5 and great to hear, 6 matches unbeaten (I think) is a great start.

I was at Brackley v Rochdale today, 2-1 to us being the home team.  1136 attendance including 248 away fans.

Although we won with a free kick and a penalty, Rochdale made 11 changes which annoyed their loyal fans I just read.

It really was a game of defence verses attack and it's a real tough league for the smaller clubs like Brackley

I still expect a bad run but staying up is the most important aim.  Two home wins is a great start though.

I still prefer NL North over NL every day of the week as some of the charm has been lost at this level.

Just checking through the results and I see Harborough got a great win today as I look out for Carline + Newton of course

Just over 2k watching Kettering v Harborough Town. Game held up for 20 mins, alleged racist abuse towards referee's assistant. Harborough winning 1-0.

Posted (edited)

Kettering Town garbage. Harborough were solid but not tested at all.

Long hold-up due to alleged racist abuse towards the lino (on the Kettering side). Can't believe what I was hearing from the Kettering fans:

"Stop crying lino"

"It's not that bad"

"I'll say I was racist so I can leave early"

"**** off and get counselling"

"We call their CB a 'fat ****'; what's the difference?"

(This was from multiple sections of the crowd whilst I walked around).

I know there are some morons down Kettering Town but the club let themselves down today. Very distasteful and just disgusting behaviour all round.

Awful organising of the bar. All fans bottled in. Can't leave the ground. Only one beer stand for which I queued up 30 mins. Now waiting to leave. No Kettering fans are allowed to leave until the Harborough fans have all left. What idiot at the club decided that? 😂 Surely let all the home fans go first, then the away fans (not least they're celebrating their victory)? What a shit show today was from Kettering. Bunch of morons in charge here.

Seen Boro get six league wins of out six, totally cruised to a 6-1 victory over Yaxley. Top of the shop and making look easy so far. I swear the division below was much harder at this stage, but some of the sides ive seen so far are very poor. Still early days, all can change as long as we can keep these set of players things could be good this season for the club. 535 attendance, not bad. Would be good to get the average attendance from 400 last season to 600.

14 goals in two games getting your money worth at the moment

Doesn't sound good, but every club has it's morons, although racism is next level. Hopefully the culprits are dealt with.

It sounded like Harborough deserved their win, they are usually solid & don't tend to concede many.

Firstly, on the segregation and letting away fans leave that's decided by the Police.

It's happened at pretty much every segregated game I've been to down there. Ridiculous.

I was in the vicinity of where the linesman said ilthe racist abuse came from (somewhere from the corner flag to behind the goal).

I didn't hear anything, and I'd like to think if it had been said then the person would have been dealt with appropriately by those around him/her too, but maybe not given what followed...

What saddened me even more than that was the reaction to the incident.

You've only provided a small snapshot of what some of the morons were saying. The linesman was also then roundly booed back into position when the game started.

Simply unacceptable and although it can often be quite hostile down there behind the goal, I've never known it overstep the mark in such a vile way like today.

I feel really sorry for the linesman and hope it doesn't knock his love for refereeing, because he was visibly upset and nobody in any walk of life should have to deal with that. What he'd experienced must have been compounded by the actions of probably a couple of hundred more morons.

Difficult to argue against Harborough deserving the win both on and off the pitch.

@Craig

Wow. Can't believe that reaction. What is wrong with some people. Almost gets to a point where trying to reason with these lot is totally pointless. Which is a shame.

Thanks for clarifying r.e segregation. Agreed MH deserved the win.

Quorn 0 - 1 Barwell

Disappointing end to what had been a phenomenal run of games unbeaten in all comps. A win was always coming at some point but against a fellow contender for the bottom third of the table, anything less than a point was unthinkable.

Quorn struggled to deal with Barnwell’s physicality and miss chances including a penalty cost them dear. Mancinelli getting on the score sheet for the second time in as many games with a great low effort Quorn’s midfielder Lyne guilty of not closing him down with any effort.

Barwell’s Keeper had a great day. Still, 10 point from 15 in August is a great return for Quorn

Mark Cooper sacked by Yeovil.

Losing a 3-0 lead at home yesterday  to lose 4-3  probably didn't help.

Seems a bit harsh so early on.

Yeovil went down with us out of league football. Our paths have been quite different since.

I would bet he'll find a new club.
