A lot of them are true 'Anglosphere' believers. Maybe because of their age they still see Britain as an equal partner in an unofficial Anglo union spreading free markets and liberty around the world.

We have pretty good relations with Canada, Australia and New Zealand to be fair.  The US a bit hit and miss.

The therapeutic element here would be the social aspect. Being out and about, meeting new people, being part of something, that is shown to help depression. Community and collectivism and its disappearance over the past 50 years is one of the key causes of increases in depression. We’re social beings, we survive in packs, no in isolation.

Yes that is fair enough - having something to do and being with others obviously can help rather than being alone etc .

 

Was more jesting that watching some teams might not cheer a depressed person up if they aren’t doing well and making life more miserable as some fans say watching their team does.

I swear interrupting has got way worse in the last couple of decades. Also stubbornness and refusal to engage with others' points. Impact of social media discourse I guess. We are all now just angry twitter accounts shouting into the void.

And the worst thing about it all is that this stubbornness and anger may actually be being cultivated for the purposes of personal gain.

"X First" nationalism is directly inimical to making the world a better place for our species or any other.

As are the majority of his supporter base (exceptions made for ones like Vance who are pretty smart and therefore their actions are based on straight up self-interested sociopathy).

 

It does sound like the folks at UNESCO had seen this coming, in any case.

People’s attention span is so short that if they don’t interrupt and make their repost immediately ……….. er ….. I’ve forgotten what I was going to write …..
