No, they will...

It's only a couple of months ago after the locals that people were predicting this to be close.. Reform's vote seems to have unravelled quite quickly.

I live in Manchester - I don’t think anyone expected this to be close from the conversations I’ve had or from what I’ve read.

Manchester is solid Labour in this department. Would take a lot for that to change.

I suppose you won't be reflecting on how much this didn't happen.

There’s loads of good documentaries about West Bank settlers, Theroux has done a couple, Bourdain went there and I think even Ross Kemp did a good one back in the day. Often the most extreme right wing people going in, killing West Bank inhabitants, knocking down their houses and building new ones on the spot. At best it’s ethnic cleansing, at worst it’s the g word.

I think it was on a news report I saw, where they reported on a viewing area where Israelis could sit and watch the bombardment of much of the Gaza strip.

They had even installed vending machines for their comfort whilst watching such destruction.

I couldn't believe what I was watching. :(

I, unfortunately, could.

Violent death as entertainment/sport is a habit our species has engaged in for a rather long time and sadly still don't seem to have grown out of.

That would involve some element of introspection and humility, which appears to be anathema to some people.

Reports state the vast majority of the 60k have now returned to Morocco having discovered that Spain would not allow them to travel to the mainland, nor stay in Ceuta.

Almost seems like a summer days out scenario (except there were fatalities), like the Mods n Rockers seaside trips, or Scotland fans "invading" London.

for those who want to educate themselves in some detail, btselem is a decent resource.  (Please make sure you appreciate the differences between areas A, B and C and also the background of the organisation. There will be some bias).

Of course you wouldn’t have this level of open information in any other Middle Eastern country. Mixing the government and the country should be avoided.  there are many unpleasant Russians but we don’t smear the entire countries nationals.

Thank you for the resource.

It's just unfortunate that while there are good people everywhere, it appears to be only the bad people in that area who wield the power and the good people are sadly unable to do enough to check them.

We are now within 3 months of a GE which could be the most significant in the history of the country.  when you read what some politicians there are saying then you need to have that perspective- they’re speaking to their base and much of what they’re saying is domestic sound bites.

my concern is what the administration will try and do to further isolate the country and draw the uncertain voters into a feeling of fear and that they need the status quo for their security.  Totally the opposite of what’s actually the case.  if you’re a voter and you feel the whole world hates you anyway then what’s to lose?  Would be better if it was clear that their beef is with the leaders and their supporters and not all the people or the country.  Otherwise we will just deepen the regional malaise come November,

of course many do have a beef with the country but that’s impractical given its military capabilities.

Most of the adults have gone back and the rest will probably do so soon. Unaccompanied minors (under 18s or under 16s, I'm not sure which) cannot be returned immediately. Each case is reviewed individually and if the Spanish authorities decide they will be safer in Spain then they stay.

This Moroccan 'invasion' is all a bit weird. They just look like they did it for a laugh.

It was a microcosm of the social media outrage age in 24 hours. I think it was a case that the 247 news cycle quickly got all over it because its an easy way to whip up division and wanted the "here they come, flooding our European streets again" doom mongering narrative, but the Spanish authorities acted efficiently and quickly and so killed the story pretty quickly.

It made the Italian and Danish PMs look a bit silly really and like they wanted to whip up division rather than solve the problem with their allies and neighbours.

Harry Redknapp and Jeremy Kyle chatting about how Bournemouth centre is overrun with intimidating groups of young male illegals wasn't on my bingo card for today.

Looking forward to people saying that because he managed foreign footballers he needs to be cool with half the male population of MENA moving here.

If it was designed as a psyop to get EU nations bickering with each other and not actually using the brains the powers that govern the universe gave them beyond a purely superficial level, then it looks like whichever entity was responsible got what they wanted.

Depressing.

Most of the residents of Bournemouth are intimidated by anyone under 60.

Get Graham on stage, he'll solve it.

This isn’t true, Suella and Jenrick have said they’re all in Calais already waiting to come here.

Young guns for hire - the teenage hitmen recruited to kill across Europe https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czrjyevmv61o

and yet we have hoards of people in this country marching with the Iranian flag.

The only thing different the Iranians have done from practically every other global player here is be either unprofessional enough or careless enough to outsource their killing jobs to amateurs. (And/or careless enough to get caught doing it.)

Not sure that's a massively significant difference in terms of the big picture tbh.
