I DESPISE the political class (MP’s and the media) SO MUCH in this country. They treat it like a game.

Alistair Campbell “here’s why Mandelson’s conduct is bad news for Labour.”

People were harmed, trafficked, raped, assaulted, abused, traumatised, and that’s the stuff we know about. It’s not about what it looks like politically, it should be about destroying the systems that allow this sickening violence to take place in.

Sounds like you're  hankering for a revolution, count me in.

To be fair if you are going to listen to a politician on a political podcast you might get a political angle.  Interesting how the majority of Westminster were fine with using Mendelson and his dark arts to counter Trump a year ago and now it’s the worst decision of all time, yet no one is surprised at his actions.

The idea that when something terrible happens, you can only talk about it to fix it, not to discuss any knock on effects or side issues, is clearly bonkers.

Literally, it was a ‘great tactical decision’. They’re all so stuck in their bubble that they lose sight of reality. Political decisions are made on the premise of “how will Dan Hodges the journalist respond to this”, rather than Dan the marketing assistant from Scunthorpe.

Standard.

Deflect, deny, gaslight. Never accept fault or fallibility.

The part of the world that would like to actually see human civilisation continue can only hope that all of these things will, eventually, add up enough to remove the man, and everyone who thinks like him, from any kind of power.

People often live in a vacuum, so they think that events happen in a vacuum as well.

As you say, this is deeply erroneous given how interconnected the works in fact is.

Should our security services have been more aware of what was in these files.  Would the fbi have rejected MI6 asking for access to see what was in them re British interests (primarily Andrew and Mandelson)?

starmer must have known that there could be stuff in the files that would be bad news for associates of Epstein. The fact he took that risk without having anything other than mandelson’s assurances doesn’t fit with his safety first approach to most things.  There must be stuff we haven’t been told because I just don’t buy Starmer taking such a gamble.

What I found most unbelievable about it wasn't the racism - I've come to expect that - but the fact that the moderate US media barely reported it while the post was still up. They reported the backlash rather than the incident itself, as if they were thinking 'is this really a story?'

Because the story wasn’t that the administration is racist (we all know this) - the story is the negative response and embarrassment of those who support the administration

Starmer says of course he has confidence in McSweeney.

And he criticises Badenoch for questioning the integrity of the cabinet secretary.

The vote of confidence is out. Thats McSweeney getting sacked in the morning, KS will get rid of him to save his own skin will be my guess.

Jumped before he was pushed?
