Glastonbury 2025

Went in 2005 which had a great line up but my favourite had to be the Las with a drummer they pulled off the street the day before, playing 'There She Goes' twice in the same set lol

Really glad Neil Young is letting his set be broadcasted. Best gig I’ve ever been to was him about 10 years ago, pure musicianship.

One of those weird ones where there’s no individual thing about him I’d describe as outstanding, but as a whole package he’s one of the best of all time for me.

I love neil young too, saw him in nottingham (awesome), I do worry about these types of gigs though, plus its neil young he'll do what he wants when he wants, i wonder how many in the audience will know the songs?.  It'll be better than 1975 though lol.

Yeah, I suppose he’s only got a handful of songs that most people would know? And like you say, him being him there’s a good chance he won’t do any of those…

I went to see him not knowing many of his songs as a mate wanted to go, but by the end of his nearly four hour set I was a die hard fan!

Pretty sure I had (at one point every record he had released), I slimmed down my collection a few years ago, no idea what his new band's like or even if he's written any new stuff recently.

I got into neil young when i saw a video for the re-released the needle and the damge done, it was possibly from the unplugged show circa 92/93:-

I was mesmerized.  I watched the unplugged show many times, i might still have it on VHS somewhere.

Think I might take our youngun who will be nearly two by then to bearded theory next year.

Anyone been?

Twice. Once in the baking sun and once with biblical rain and mud with a 14 hour queue to get onto the car park.

It's massive, it's great and you could spend the whole weekend not at any of the big stages and have a great time. You will walk a lot.  Pyramid and Other are back to back, but it easilly takes 30-40 minutes to get round there from size of the crowd and other things. I remember it taking me an hour to get from Pyramid to John Peel (now woodsies) but that may have been due to the ciders I had along the way....

It's massive but fun. Arcadia, Shangrila and Block 9 are great. You won't see them on the BBC footage as it's a lot more out there.

This is it overlayed with Leicester.

Just had The 1975 set on in the background.

Obviously they're a popular turn but I don't think I've ever heard one of their songs before, knowingly anyway. I know their singer is called Matt or Matty something, but I don't believe anybody has ever mentioned them to me in conversation let alone told me they like them.

Are there loads of 1975 fans on here? That I'm out of the loop is the least surprising thing ever, as I lurch towards late middle age and increasing irrelevance but they seem to have not touched ANYONE I know culturally, which is a bit unusual

I've been enjoying it. Wet Leg and Franz Ferdinand back to back yesterday was pretty good stuff and caught bits of some acts I wasn't at all familiar with like CMAT who put on a great show by the looks of it. The headliners aren't necessarily my cup of tea but never mind, there's plenty else on.

This occurred to me as well. As someone not overly familiar with them I thought they were pretty good but not in a way that made me think "yes, these are obviously one of the biggest bands going" and I don't know anyone who would cite them as one of their favourite acts. We must not be travelling in the right circles.

Loving Weezer on the Other Stage.

Watching them back now. They've written some great music, haven't they. This show is helped by a brilliant sound mix.

(I'm old enough to remember a classic bad-take review of the utterly brilliant Blue Album in the NME ha ha.)
