Fair enough he’s trying, but why he is banging on about people leaving early? 😂 that didn’t really happen

I was wondering that as it was the first I’d heard about it.

The away end was still full, hence players like Hamza having to be dragged away for arguing with fans lol.

That said, Abdul is bottom of the shit list so I’ll let him off.

Suspect there's some sort of general resentment for the fans where some loud voices (Faes, Vestergaard, Wink,) and some with obvious discontent (BDR, Soumare, Ayew, Skipp, Hamza) are voicing it in the group and compounds to a very anti-fan group, probably made worse by some boo's.

Don't think anyone can doubt Fatawu's effort and is clearly the most loved player. Having a go at some very reasonable few leaving early going 2-1 down to, let's be honest, a shit Championship side, after the vast majority of the 11 who are more then capable, didn't play well enough is a bit hypocritical. Fans checking out early and players not putting 100% effort in kind of goes hand in hand.

Look inwards first Fatawu and you'll see why.

Oh well fuel for the boo boys.

Can you imagine being Abdul and recovering from an acl, running your socks off and seeing fans around you moaning and leaving when you are still in the game.

Everyone can do what they want, but Abdul has every right to express how he feels about that as much as anyone in the stands is currently doing.

But hey, I’m sure he’s on the shit list now.

I really hope not. Of course, after that performance yesterday people will say that he needs to focus on his own game, and specifically how he deals with quicker, more physical defenders - and I suppose that's fair too. It's a two-way street, as many have said, and I understand why fans leaving early or being overly negative (e.g. booing someone like Daka, who hasn't had a great time with us but always gives his best) doesn't help. It's fine in my book for Fatawu to say his bit, not least because he's one of the few who have earned the right to do that.

It's not what I would have done personally though. It's a very volatile atmosphere at the moment with a breakdown in understanding between the club and its fans, so until we start seeing more of an effort from their side to fix that, it's probably only going to stoke anger to be calling out the supporters. For some it will go in the pot with Faes cupping his ears or Winks having one of his many sulks, when perhaps some humility and determination to build bridges might go further than adding to the fire. It only widens the rupture, and one obvious reaction is to say 'have a word with those who pay your wages and fail to communicate effectively with the fanbase, or with your teammates whose incompetence and/or stroppiness has helped to foster this breakdown in the relationship'. He's not a kid playing down the park, and handling relationships with the fanbase sensitively is part of what professionals are handsomely paid for.

But the fans, as many have said, aren't immune from criticism and while I can see how some will take umbridge with what he's said, I have no personal problem with it at all. It seems very genuine, at least, and that's a pleasant change. And I suppose he's right in everything he says apart from the bit about how the team 'deserves' success. I'm pretty sure that's intended as a 'get this club back where it belongs' type of comment, but a few pundits yesterday remarked that the team acted as if it was entitled to victory just by turning up, and you could interpret what Abdul said here as an indication of that.

He, like all of them are paid very well to kick a ball about in the public eye by the humiliation ritual loving fans.

It's so so easy to deal with fan discontent, put 100% in (which we can't fault Fatawu of not doing,) and be sympathetic to an unexpected loss.

Clearly the club are not doing anything in this area (psychological, behaviour, fan engagement,) with the players. Masked by almost all players paying some **** to run a social media account.

We actually don’t deserve him

We really need 11 or 15 players like him.

The lad has so much passion and commitment.

As you say he was terrible yesterday but I'd support him and 15 of him every day of the week.

Contextually we've seen tremendously half hearted performances in the 4 1/2 of the last 5 seasons and so it's a case of here we go again.

It'd be great if he could speak and have some impact with the squad

They take the f***ing piss man. How can you genuinely turn in a half-arsed, shite performance like yesterday and then have the sheer brass neck to have a pop at fans who have given up significant time and money to show up and support. When the performance is that bad people are well within their rights to leave early and show discontent.

I like Fatawu, but a little self-reflection is required here. The fans are not the problem. Your teammates are.

He’s young and he’ll learn hopefully. That post was like serving up a medium rare fillet to a vegan.

He can say what he wants.  He's not one of the bitches crying off.  You don't have to agree, but you can accept it coming from someone who actually tries and gives a shit.

Understand what he's trying to say, and you have to consider its not his first language, and its nice to see a genuine post.

But it's just unnecessary PR, don't think he needs to take it down, he's just being himself. But again it indicates the divide between the fans and players. They are sat in that dressing the room cursing about the fans just as much as we are in here about them.

I think the post probably subtly points to something else more important though - the growing disconnect between the players and fans.

I have no doubt that the players know what’s been posted on here about them all summer.

Fans have a right to criticise this lot. This is the exact same players who turned in turgid performance after turgid performance every week last season. We are now watching them do exactly the same thing just in a league lower.

Once you’ve been relegated you need 5/6 new players in for a bit of freshness, hunger, players with something to prove just like we did last time we went down.

The current crop of players we have are so unlikeable and the damage is already done between players & fans it won’t recover. They don’t want to be here we don’t want them so as soon as you get a few half arsed performances for them fans will turn on them as we are seeing exactly the same thing we saw last year.

The rot is already set in and it won’t be repaired until we have a complete new team.

No-one left at 1-0 down, not a decent amount anyway. They probably went downstairs to get a beer as the football was horrid.
