FrankieADZ Posted 9 July 2025 Posted 9 July 2025 LEICESTER are ready to pay £500,000 compensation to QPR to land Marti Cifuentes as their new manager. Cifuentes, 43, has beaten Gary O’Neil, Chris Wilder and Danny Rohl in the race to succeed Ruud Van Nistelrooy at the Kingpower. The Spanish coach left QPR last month after two seasons in charge at Loftus Road. But it was not a straightforward departure as Cifuentes was put on gardening leave in April after strong links to West Brom, who were looking for a new manager. As part of his exit agreement, a new club will have to pay compensation and Leicester look ready to do that. Should the Foxes fork out the compensation fee, Cifuentes could be appointed in the next few days. Cifuentes had only signed a new long-term deal with QPR last September but his spell in west London turned sour. The manager had taken charge of 83 games as R's boss, winning 29, drawing 23 and losing 31. Leicester believe he can lead them back to the Premier League at the first attempt. Pre-season has already started at the club with Andy King leading training. cc: Leicester ready to appoint sacked Championship manager to replace Van Nistelrooy - but still have to pay compensation | The Sun

Lambert09 Posted 9 July 2025 Posted 9 July 2025 The only concerning thing I have, is how easy they were to beat in the fa cup. I know it was a b squad but given how woeful we had been in the league, with a bit of effort and good tactics and let’s face it they could have got an upset. It was all a bit too easy and if we did somehow get promoted, then he would need to smarten up because the gap between us and the top half prem teams … or even to the team in 17th is bigger than the gap between Leicester and QPR

DezFox Posted 9 July 2025 Posted 9 July 2025 Genuine question as I am undecided. if it were a 50/50 between him and Rohl who wouldn’t you all want and why?

Would be interesting to know why West Brom didn’t get him. Asked my west brom season ticket holder the same thing and he said " cos he wouldn't be able to manage a big club " 😂
Lesta Legend Posted 9 July 2025 Posted 9 July 2025 We also don’t know the amount for Rohl as that hasn’t been settled.
teblin Posted 9 July 2025 Posted 9 July 2025 I wonder if rohl kinda wanted the job but marti showed more passion for wanting the role.
Benji Posted 9 July 2025 Posted 9 July 2025 Would suggest the issue with Rohl has been the Sheff Wed owner all along, and we're tired of waiting and wasting pre-season time. (Or he doesn't want it...)

They are both the same for me. Both turned their respective team around and finished 23/24 strongly, went into last season as dark horses but ultimately, over the course of a season, were disappointing. 1

If so, pretty sure you can "unfollow" the topic @The Year Of The Fox. No not that 😂 The thread was started as a piss take at all those who were absolutely losing their mind of Rohl throughout the week. They didn’t notice though, and have started losing their shit over this bloke now instead 😂😂😂 Edited 9 July 2025 by The Year Of The Fox 1

The false 9 is on! mavididi/bek/monga down the middle sitting a bit deeper with the wingers pushed high and narrow could be interesting! I think this is likely to be pragmatic- I think you will find most QPR fans are wanting a new striker next season as a priority. Goals scored last season were barely above 1 per game.
