We are on a transfer embargo?

The lack of incomings is slightly expected but the thing that’s a little more concerning is the lack of outgoings, given that we want them gone and they want to be gone.

I know we are terribly slow but I really am wondering if there’s a possibility we have been put on an embargo but it’s not been announced, as they are waiting to release all punishments in one go

I understand it’s wildly speculative and still unlikely this wouldn’t be leaked but could it explain why maybe the club is holding onto players as we can’t replace them?

the only transfer noise is around wilf at this point and he has a release clause, it all makes me suspicious.  It also would tie in with the slow manager hunt, if they’ve been told about this charge and more incoming it would naturally slow everything down.

maybe Russel Martin’s friend who said we can’t spend any money might have been right and it’s not because of cash flow ..

We’re not, it would be listed on the EFL website if we had one

I'd imagine (as it probably suits the clubs needs) we won't want to sell anyone until a manager is in place.

It's not a good look to sell players just before the new man has at least gone through the squad an evaluated everyone, and how he want's to structure it.

For example, I'm pretty sure Coady is on the verge of leaving for Rangers, but just in case the new man is adamant he wants to see all, before he says, 'yes' he's happy for them to leave.... etc... would he want him to be the 'leader in the dressing room...does he have enough voices in the room....etc....etc

I think it’s more of a case of most of our players being some of the best at this level but not good enough for the Premier League. The wages make them unattractive to sides in Europe, too.

There’s not as much necessity to sell as what some think from a playing POV, but financially we probably need to shift a few.

Now that Vardy, Edouard and  Danny Ward are off the books, we're in a much better position wages wise too!

Be good to lose Soumare and Coady an maybe one more, and I think we'd be able to make one or two 'substantial additions.

Or am I being overly optimistic?

The lack of incoming players is probably down to there being no manager yet. Why sign a bunch of players only to bring in a manager who may play a style of football not suited to the new players? Makes sense to get a manager in and then make signings thatight actually fit into his system.

Although of course this approach and reasoning would assume that the board/recruitment teams have actually thought about something for more than a few seconds.

Embargoes are to stop you signing players rather than selling them, aren't they? I assume that's why they get called registration embargoes/fee restrictions these days. Given they're meant to be a punishment for not fulfilling financial obligations it would be rather self-defeating to block off one of the main ways clubs can bring money in.

You’d assume so but I think our case is complicated because of the multiple charges.

I’ve seen enough of us to know it’s likely just a lack of ability to flog anyone but it’s very very odd

If there was one the EFL would have announced it and there'd be 5 more threads about it.

You need to have people working at the club to do transfer business. Also having a gaffer in place helps, maybe they're learning not to do transfers before having a manager.

I was getting more at, we wouldnt sell players if we couldnt then go out and buy someone to replace them. The club would rather have terrible Faes than nobody

Same reason as we haven’t been able to shift the likes of Soumare or Faes previously. There wage is to high and it puts buyers off.

And maybe other teams have seen them play ....

My own personal policy would be to ship out the likes of Faes, Kristiansen, BDCR, Soumare BEFORE the new manager was to come in, so he doesn't fall into the trap a thinking they are any good!

Theoretically maybe but you could apply that logic to any embargoed club - it's seemingly not stopping Wednesday selling Gassama for example.

I think it's infinitely more likely that the lack of outgoings is down to the usual factors like our players being on mega wages relative to their ability and the dynamic duo of Top and JR being too busy trying to appoint a manager than us being placed under some sort of stealth embargo that neither the EFL nor anyone else has bothered to notify us of. Like with the rumours about staff not being paid, I don't believe we wouldn't have heard anything about it from anyone reputable even with how tight-lipped the club are.

Outgoings are not part of an Embargo

Massively optimistic. You clearly are unaware that players like Souttar, Hamza, Vestergaard, Winks, Ayew are on upwards of 60k a week for no reason at all. We had one of the highest wage bills in the prem let alone the championship, we ideally need to offload way more than 2. We probably need to sell BEK and or the keeper too to bring in funds.

I understand that their wages have dropped as we dropped out of the Prem, No?

I'm not suggesting they aren't high, I'm saying that we are still sustainable, IF IF we get promoted again within two seasons
