I accidentally clicked to download mine again - missed the bit of the email where it said it would auto update if it has one last year! Now I seem to have it twice in my wallet. Hopefully it’ll work!

My old man qualifies for a card and rang up to get it sorted. They said they would send one out but of course nothing has arrived. I assume they meant they will reactivate his current card? Hoping that works.

My Dad is in the same boat; no new card. Presumably it is just a reactivation.

One member of our group qualified for having a card, requested to retain it at renewal and received a letter confirming last years card had been reactivated.

Hopefully, that's happened for your Dad's.

He didn’t get a letter as he called up and they advised they were sending a new one out. I am hoping they got that wrong and it’s his current card. I could download his on my phone but I’m concerned that if I do that then he won’t be able to get a card.

I've just checked my dad's phone settings ahead of the game and I think something is corrupted, preventing NFC to be enabled. Will he be able to get in via the QR code?

Quick questions, do you have to have Google pay as your default wallet, and if you do do you need to open your app or can you just tap your phone? Thanks.

Also, does it work on your watch?

I’m still maintaining that the biggest problem with digital ticketing is the number of turnstiles at our stadium.

Out stadium was built for manned turnstiles and that means in L1, for example, there are just two turnstiles for people to enter via for the whole section (as you’d previously have had to pay someone to operate it). Modern stadiums are built with several turnstiles and when you rock up to an away end that holds 3,000 or whatever then you have the option to enter via many more turnstiles (as the stadium was built knowing you don’t have to pay someone to sit on them).

Entry is not as quick as a human pressing a pedal to release the turnstile because people have to scan and wait for the tech to recognise the ticket, add up that extra 1-2 seconds and multiply it by hundreds/thousands and you have long queues. Even more so when the tech doesn’t work at first or the person doesn’t know where they need to scan etc.

I think the only thing stopping absolute carnage today is that we all know how useless this could be and many will purposefully get there earlier (something we shouldn’t have to do).

The biggest operational problem with digital ticketing, in my experience, is the people trying to use it.

A newbie to digital, I have it in my Apple Pay wallet on my iPhone, it’s just a blue box with my details on, the Sheffield Wednesday fixture showing,  is that it? I was expending one of those QR codes :dunno:.

Yes just make sure NFC is switched on on your phone below is the club video

Definitely.   It might all go "smoothly" but only because we've taken precautions.

(reminds me of the y2k bug that was going to cause carnage at the start of 2000.   It didn't.   But that was only because practically every medium/large size company invested a huge effort in getting IT staff, or contractors, to go through every line of computer code.   A massive task that took some companies a couple of years.)

Yes. I tried both NFC and QR code entry last week. Open the QR code and just put the phone in the scanner.

Yes, Google wallet as the default. With NFC switched on you just hold near the receiver, like tap and pay.

I had my wallet open and the ticket loaded when I tried the NFC tap. No idea about the watch.

Thanks, I might try the watch when no one’s behind me sometime.

So I've downloaded to an old phone (bizarrely my newer one doesnt have NFC) which has no SIM in it. Do I need any sort of internet connection for it to scan properly or does the NFC tech just pick up the signal from the phone? Concerned I won't be able to open wallet up at the ground.

Pissed off I'm even having to check this sort of thing to attend a football match.

Just an update if anyone was interested but can’t seem to load season ticket onto my watch wallet.

Dont believe Internet connection is required. Similar to using NFC banking apps, doesnt need an Internet connection.

My dad was told he would get a new one as we have relocated. Card never arrived then got a letter saying they have reactivated his old one (but old one had old seat details on) Spoke to ticket office and said it was a mistake and will need to collect his card from a collection point today.

Sounds like similar stories. It’s going to be chaos down there isn’t it?

They’ve sent my dad a one time digital ticket so hopefully that works.
