Never really liked or warmed to him but Chilwell at the start of 18/19 under Puel was consistently fantastic.. Same in 19/20 pre COVID.

Sustained periods in those two seasons he was pushing the best full backs in the league.. shame he was just a bit of a fanny!!

Interesting question, because "dislike" is a strong word that speaks as much about yourself as the object of your ire.

Maybe throw Newell, Kitson in with names already mentioned like Speedie, Maddison and Chilwell

Fofana was absolutely class as much as we all hated him

We really only hated him when he sulked and wanted away, and the manner in which he left.    Don't think anyone hated him when he first came to us.

It’s not that I didn’t understand the hate for Fofana, but I don’t know why everyone didn’t just expect it. He’d behaved the same to come to us in the first place.

Exactly, that made him a complete tosser.

I try not to "dislike" people for arbitrary reasons, certainly not going to say I dislike another grown adult just because I don't think they're good at football or they don't play particularly well for us.

But Danny Simpson is a wife beating **** that shouldn't have a TV / media career and I really hate that he gets trotted out so much to talk about us.

That said, he was a massively under-rated defensive full back and comparing his defensive abilities to some of the full backs we've had since only further highlights that. He offered no attacking threat but these days you don't actually always have to. Ironically, Enzo probably would have liked him.

Savage also went full sheep shagger after he retired

Conveniently switched allegiances when we won the title and were all over the news though.

Couldn't dislike Fofana purely because of his cup final performance.

Savage and Simpson are good shouts, for different reasons obviously.

For me probably Lloyd Dyer. Really thought he was overrated massively by our fans, but have to admit he was great in our 13/14 season. Also thought Steve Howard was a donkey but he ended up being a somewhat crucial part of our early Pearson renaissance.

Lots of people answering with players they disliked AFTER they left us, so that doesn't really count (though the wording in the OP talks about players leaving under a cloud so would be good to know what the actual question is).

Can't think of a player I properly disliked when they played for us who was actually good. Generally, if they were decent, that started to override any real dislike on a personal level.

Always thought Chilwell was a bit of a fanny when he played for us. Compounded by leaving and saying he’d rather beat us in the cup final than win the Champions League - ****ing dolt

As Alan Smith did.

I always thought Demarai Gray seemed a bit arrogant and thought he was Ronaldo - Yet in the same token, i myself did believe there was a very good player in there.

4+ years on, turns out there never really was a very good player in there.

i am convinced he is going to tear up the champo this season

Can't remember exactly the story but wasn't there a bit in that documentary about him when he said he went up to a Leeds fan and told him his dad was a **** lol

He does come across as a ***** but to be honest it translated brilliantly on to the pitch. Very competitive and confident character. That kind of mentality contributed not insignificantly to our success.

They used to sing your dads a **** but we like you to him when he was at Leeds.

Cut to first game playing them after that came out and Leeds fans chanted your dads a **** and so are you at him 😂

I've gone on to like Harry Kane a lot since he left England. Possibly the best English footballer since Rooney and he backs it up constantly. Can't help but have begrudging respect for a player like that.

Always rated how he puts England first too.
